Blair:
The physical test was longer than the mental. We climb things shot things and stabbed things. I wasn't fawn of any of it but anything to make me stronger. A shower sounds like heaven right now since I was covered in mud. I finished blowdrying my hair and put it in a ponytail.
It was pretty much always liked that. My brother told me putting it in a bun made me look too cute. We weren't blood-related but his opinion still mattered to me. Everyone's opinion of me mattered. I wanted to be perfect. I wanted everyone to love me. I guess because I thought my real parents didn't. I never knew them, I can't judge them without knowing them. Maybe they didn't have enough money to afford me. I took a shaky breath then spit the toothpaste out.
I shouldn't be thinking like that. Everything happens for a reason. I contemplated getting breakfast or going to Allen's trial. I told myself I wouldn't go but I ended up going anyway. It seems like it was about to end.
"You told me in the cell yesterday that you were going to confess. Well go on and say it."
"I lied, I didn't do it. But I swear that if you give me one more chance to make things right I will kill them all. Just one more, please. I need to do this before I die."
Duke looked just as surprised as I was.
"There is no way you are going out there again. You won't even make it out of here alive."
"Duke, that's enough."
Elias interrupted his brother.
"We will find out what to do with you. We have strong evidence that you were the one who shot them. Really this shouldn't have dragged out for so long. We know you did it all we want to know is why. I don't give a damn about a confession."
"But I didn't do it."
"Last chance Allen. If you don't tell me I'll let him kill you however he sees fit. But if you tell me why then it should be as brutal."
"When I was talking to him yesterday it seemed like he had some kind of mental disability. So maybe that was the cause but just let me talk to him again to make sure."
Everyone looked at me. I didn't care as long as the bought it.
"A mental disability?"
"Yes from the trama of his first mission maybe. If I figure out-."
"Bullshit!" Duke said as he stood up.
"Let her finish."
"If I figure out what it is maybe we can prevent this from happening again."
"Fine, I need to see progress every day."
"What!?"
Elias continued to ignore his brother and said: "he will stay in the cell and will be supervised by someone while you do your tests."
"You can't be serious?"
"She might be right," one of the judges said.
Duke murmured something under his breath then left out the side door. Elias walked towards me and I met him halfway.
"This will start tomorrow."
I nodded and watched them take Allen off again. I should go with him. Before I could Elias grabbed my arm.
"If this doesn't work I won't be able to stop him from doing anything to him. In that case, he might be executed."
"But you are the head of Lunar."
"I wouldn't go against my brother for someone like him. Don't you think it's weird he was the only person who came back both times? I think he is a spy. I want to know for sure before I let him kill him (and what good is he to me if he's dead.) This shit's been bugging me. The whole thing with life. But we can't act on it. It would cause a war."
"Wouldnt you start a war for your son?"
"Not at the cost of innocent people's lives. They come first. He knew what he got himself into."
"So what, we just sit around hoping he will give us information?"
"Yes."
"He hasn't said anything in weeks He could have been compromised."
"Don't you think I know that. I want to send another team out there but what if the same damn thing happens again? I can't keep risking people's lives over a suspicion."
"What if your right though. What if they are planning something big that we don't know about. Just send one more team. One more with some of the best I will go to."
"You are not ready for something like that."
"Look at my scores. If I pass that proves I can do it does it not?"
"Once everyone tests scores and added up and it says you are higher than eleven then yes you can go."
"Thank you, sir."
He nodded and walked away.
"Why are you protecting him?"
"Why do you want him dead?"
He didn't answer. He didn't have to. I forgot he was supposedly the reason his little sister died. I had forgotten, that's why no one stood up for him. Everyone loved her. She and Jen was the light in this dark place. Now that they are gone everyone seemed to give up.
"I'm sorry."
"Maybe if you lose someone you really care about then you would understand. You will never know how I cared for her. I don't think you cared that much about anyone really."
"You don't know me Cole."
"I know you don't have a purpose here. You not here to save the world or to protect the peace, and you sure ass hell won't risk your life for any of us."
I didn't say anything because he was right. I would risk myself for anyone here. I don't have a purpose here. I didn't even want to come here. The only reason I'm here is because someone said my real parents wanted me to go for who knows what. I can't question their desition maybe it's so that I will have discipline.
"Hey, how are you?"
"Been better, why did you do all this?"
"Because I need you."
"For what?"
"To get her back."
"What do you mean? She is dead, isn't she?"
"They said they only found Jeremy you and Trisha. Scarlet wasn't found so maybe they took her. They didn't tell you?"
"No, they said I killed them and tried to kill Trisha."
"And you don't know what happened?"
"No, just that I saw Scarlet and Jeremy run-up to Joseph and then he pulled a gun out on them. Everything is fuzzy after that. So is it true I have a mental problem?"
"Trama maybe but nothing too serious maybe also depression."
"So you lied for me? You know you can get kicked out for that."
"Not for you for her. It looked like she cared for you and would have hated if you were gone. She needs you."
"So... do you love her?"
I tried blush at that ridiculous question.
"I will come back tomorrow and start doing fake tests with you. Until I find a way to get you out. For now, don't say or do anything stupid."
