Untitled Part 9

Scarlet:

Being here wasn't so bad. Just a lot of training. It was mostly stealth which I wasn't use to. I was going better than most tho but everyone seemed off. Almost as if they were dead inside. I haven't seen Joseph in a while maybe two weeks? I was starting to get worried. 

"Scarlet!"

A guy around six-seven maybe yelled my name from across the eating area. I left my tray and went to him. He handcuffed my wrists and ankles. They haven't done this in a long time why are they doing it now?

He took me down to Vladimir's lab. Why are we going here? He took off the cuffs and strapped me down. 

"Hello, Scarlet."

"What is this you weird fuck."

"Well, just just a few more tests but I'm warning you this could be a little deadly. I'm just going to take a look inside your chest."

"Why?"

"Well he wants to talk to him"

He took a knife off the tray and dug into my skin.

"Stop!"

The air in here became heavy. It felt like the time I saw the raven. There was a black figure just past his shoulder. My vision was a blur but it looked like a man. 

The cold woke me up. I wasn't the only one here either. All of the best assassins were in here. We were thrown in a ditch. Everyone was confused. I checked my chest and saw he stapled my chest closed. 

I'm going to kill him. I look around and saw skulls and decaying bodies. What the fuck is this place?

"Hello everyone. Today you will kill each other. Whoever wins moves on to the next test. Hurry along now don't want to keep him waiting no no, not at all. Oh yeah, no one is coming out till only one is left."

everyone was still for a while this someone picked up a bone.

"Just let me kill all of you."

Someone else picked up a rock.

"Sorry I can't just lay down and die."

Everyone started fighting and killing each other. There are thirty-one people here and only one is leaving. I looked over to find May. I thought back to the time she and I struggled to fit in. She was the only thing that made this boring place fun. 

"Scarlet!"

"Yeah?"

"Come one get up. Get a weapon and fight." 

 "I can't just kill an innocent person."

"Look at them they are animals. How innocent can they be?"

"So I become an animal as well?"

"Do what you have to to survive."

"What will happen if we are the only ones left?"

"We both get out of here together. Now come one remember when we said we would go to your father's grave. How could we go if we don't make it out together?"

I picked up a bone and broke it.

"Survive Scarlet."

I heard a voice whisper in my head.

"Kill them. Kill all of them if not then you will die and where do you think will happen after that? If you die today you cant save Jospeph so fight."

I took a deep breath and went after someone who bite someone's throat out. I got behind them and grabbed them by the jaw and stabbed her in the throat.  I held her until she stopped moving. 

May pushed me to avoid a rock that was thrown at me.

"Get up there aren't that many of you left you will start being a target soon."

I did what the voice told me to and went after a smaller kid. After I was done with him I went after someone. Next thing I knew me and May and a guy stronger and faster than both of us were left. 

I didn't have the bone anymore so I have to use my hands. I ran at him but ended up on the ground. She did the same thing but kicked.  He stumbled back in my direction. His leg was in arms reach. I grabbed it and she jumped on his back. 

"Scar bite his Achilles."

"No get up and rip his eyes up."

I did what the voice told me to do without thinking about it. 

"Now rip out his guts."

Was I really doing this or is this someone else doing? I reached inside him and pulled them out. 

"Scar your eyes they are."

May took a few steps back then ran up to me and hugged me. 

"We did it now let's try to find a way out."

I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. I looked down a saw she had stabbed me. I punched her in the face hard and fell to my knees. I pulled on the bone but it wouldn't come out. May started crawling to another broken bone.

"Go kill her what are you waiting for?"

"Maybe she is supposed to get out not me."

"So you are pathetic. She lied to you. She swore you guys would leave together and see your father's grave."

I crawled over to her. She tried to stab me again but I took the bone from her. 

"Scarlet I'm sorry. Only one of us can get out of here. No, we can still make it help me up let's go."

I put the knife to her throat.

"No choke her."

"What are you doing? Stop get off me you bitch."

I wrapped my hands around her throat and started squeezing. I watched her life slip out her eyes. 

"Someones behind you."

I caught the guy's hand.

"Break it."

I did as I was told.

"Now rip it off!"

I kicked him in the chest and he flew to the other side of the ditch. His arm was in my hand. I dropped it and looked up to see someone I didn't recognize watching me. They through smoke down. I became sleepy the more I inhaled it.

 Was this what they wanted assassins who lost their humanity. Who doesn't feel anything?
