Blair:

"Hey, Blair I thought you weren't going to watch his sentencing?"

"I wasn't. I shouldn't have. I didn't think they were going to treat him so cruelly."

"My father can be a bit um dramatic at times. Surely he doesn't mean it. That won't be his final sentencing."

"Are you sure Olive? It sure did seem like it."

"Yeah, he just does that to intimidate people, like how he did with Scarlet."

"Scarlet is that girl who was in his group?"

"Yeah."

I didn't need to ask that, I already knew that much. For some reason, I was drawn to her. I never talked to her I'm sure she doesn't know I exist. I never talked to her or stared too long because there was something sinister about her.

"Hey, you girls need to get out of this blizzard."

Malcolm pulled up in one of the jeeps.

"It's not a blizzard, come on Blair."

The warm blanket Malcolm gave me was nice. I wrapped it around me and looked out the window.

"So what is dad going to do now?"

"I don't know. I can't read him."

"He doesn't like traitors I'm surprised he hasn't killed him himself yet."

"Malcolm! our father isn't like that he will follow the rules."

"Speaking of the rules since Joseph is gone your going to be moving up to the second lieutenant spot for the time being."

I looked over to congratulate her but she looked worried.

"I don't want to be", she said softly.

"But ever since you were younger you always talked about becoming the second lieutenant."

"I never wanted it to happen this way. I wanted to earn my way not..."

"It's only for the time being."

We pulled up to building A. It was smaller than the rest and more crowded but it was mine. Well, ours. I looked over at building C, I would always see her looking up at the stars there. Would I really never see her again?

"I'm glad shes dead now we don't have to worry about her killing us at night."

They were talking about her. I almost forgot the word got out about her killing Ray and Sam. Chills ran down my spine as I remembered the thing that came out of her. It was like...

"Heads up!"

A can half full of water hit me in the head and spilled over my uniform.

"Shit Riker what the hell man?"

Malcolm was yelling at him for me but I didn't feel any better. I didn't want him to always think he needs to save me. I know he's only doing this to protect me but I feel so useless around him. How do I tell him that though? I didn't give Riker a chance to apologize. I went to the closest building to us which was building C.

I opened the door thinking that it would have been locked. A breeze of warm air touched my face. Down the hall, I saw yellow tape cover a doorway. The door was open so I went in. It was cold and empty. Were they using everything for evidence or something? Even now I can sense she was here.

Ever since I met her I could tell there was a darkness covering her heart. So why did she always wear a smile? I wanted to cut off the hand I saw on her shoulder that one time I saw her cry. I heard it talk to her. It said kill them. But she never gave in. I always wanted to help her but that day I looked into that creature's eyes scared me. It was eating at my soul just by looking at me. Since that day I stayed away from her. The days she smiled made me think she was ok but she would never be until I kill what's killing her.

I stopped by the door on the far left. Something told me it was hers. She couldn't really be dead. I didn't even get to know her.

"Did you know her."

I knew Cole was the one who asked the question by his tone. I turned around to look at him. He swallowed hard. He only does this with me. I never figured out why.

"No."

"Well she had it coming she never belonged here."

He moved passed me into the room and picked up the last box.

"Don't say that Cole. She was nice and she really tried. You always brought her down why? You know what I don't care I guess you will never change."

He looked shocked at my response.

"I'm sorry, you are right. Honestly, I'm going to miss the competition."

"You shouldn't be apologizing to me."

"I know that anyway why are you here?"

"I just... I don't know I guess I will miss her smile."

"Speaking of smiling I rarely ever see you smile why?"

"There isn't really anything to smile about here."

"Maybe your smile can make someone's day."

"HA, what?"

"I don't know maybe someone thinks you have a beautiful no an astonishingly beautiful smile."

I couldn't help but laugh at his stupid sweet words.

"Wow damn that smile and laugh shit I really hit the jackpot. This has to be one of the best punishment my dad made me do."

"So cleaning up this place is a punishment?"

"Yeah. Anyway, I need to put this box up. I hope I see you soon."

I needed to get back to my building and get some rest for tomorrow.
