Blair:

"Goodmorning mom."

I gave my mom a warm smile. I knew my smile would make her happy, it always did.

"Goodmorning my lovely angel."

I remembered how close I was to my step-parents. I called them mom and papa but ever since they sent me here I referred to them as my step-parents.

"I made you oatmeal and I cut an orange like you use to cut it for me."

It didn't look anything like hers but it was all I could do.

"Thank you."

"I will make some more soup that will help you with your fever for lunch."

"Your Papa doesn't help out?"

"No, I told him not to because he burns things."

"Haha, he was never a good cook. Even back when we were a young couple he tried to make me dinner for our anniversary. He confused the jar of sugar with salt. That was also the first time I had takeout."

"How was it?"

"Delicious."

"After that, we moved closer to my mom so she could teach me the proper way to cook. When my mom heard about it she didn't allow him in her kitchen."

"Blair?"

"I'm in mom's room."

My big brother Rune appeared in the doorway. I gave mom a kiss then left with him.

"Where are we going this time."

"Up the mountain, but first you have to get your bow."

"I can't carry it that far. I can bearly carry it at all."

"You can. Now go get it I'll wait here for you."

I went to the barn. Under the wood floors was my bow. I didn't know why we kept it in such a weird place but my fathers and brothers were on display in the house. Why was my hidden?

I remembered when I use to love the gold swirls on my bow. Now it's just something I have.

"Hurry we need to get back before lunch."

It would take several hours to get to the mountain and back. But since I'm taking this bow plus we going up the mountain it will take days. Well, I think we are going up the mountain. I'll have to ask him when I get a chance.

I struggled walking back to him. I was being a little dramatic but only so he would have sympathy and tell me to put it back. That didn't work. Instead, he rolled his eyes and started walking in the direction of the mountain.

"Are we walking all the way up the mountain?"

"Yes."

"Wait really?"

"Yes."

"But I can't make it up there with this bow. I never made it up there without the bow. Dad only took me halfway."

"And I'm taking you all the way."

I huffed then put the bow on my back.

"You know it's going to take days to get up there."

"Not if you keep up."

The path was becoming harder to walk on. Rocks kept tripping me up. I couldn't lift my legs high enough to step over them.

My brother was carrying a blue vase. I never seen it before. Why was he carrying it up the mountain? He looked serious. I don't think asking him would be the best conversation right now.
