Blair:

"Blair? There you are, come here."

My eyes fluttered open. Rune was on his knees reaching for me. He was bloody and had bandages wrapped around him. He was worried about me? Tears poured from my eyes. No he wasn't. If he was he would have caught me or picked me up when I fell like he always did. He... he would have never left me.

"Y-you left me."

My voice was shaky. I was trembling. Rune looked shocked. He was shocked because I was crying. I never cried before. I never felt scared or alone either. Not until he left me.

"I know Blair, and I'm sorry."

"Sorry? You can't do that you can't leave me. I could have left the stupid bow here and we could have gone together. Am I not your little sister?"

I picked up a rock and threw it at him. The rock hit him in the head. He flinched at the pain. Why? Why didn't he catch it? When I threw things at him he always caught it.

He placed his head on the ground. A sound came from him. Was that a whimper?

"I didn't know what to do. I knew taking you back there would put your life at risk. Father. He would have wanted me to take you far away from here but how can I let my own parents be slaughtered!? "

He lifted his head. Tears were rolling down his face. I never saw him beat himself up so badly.

"Blair, you are my nugget and I love you. Understand, please. I didn't have a choice. I know I failed my duty to protect you. I-"

I crawled at him and hugged him.

"You are squeezing too tight I'm hurt or you haven't noticed?"

I loosen my death grip. His arms wrapped around me as well. He let go and wiped my tears away.

"Get your bow. Mom and Dad are waiting for us at the bottom of the valley."

"Are they alright?"

"Yeah."

"What caused the fire?"

He smirked then said, "Dads cooking."

I laughed. I knew it wasn't true but it was funny.
