Scarlet:

My breath was shaky. I tried to calm myself down but it didn't work. The guy in front of me looked terrified.

He swallowed hard then said, "What are you doing here?"

Whatever he was talking to moved closer to me.

"Is she afraid of you?"

"Yes I made sure of it."

"Just because you spread a few rumors about yourself doesn't mean people will be afraid once they hear them. Look at her, she never heard of me nor has she seen me. And she's terrified."

He moved my hair covering my face behind ear and whispered, "Don't be sorry he is a joke you don't have to be afraid of him. Actually, most of everyone here is a joke. You are stronger than all of them you just don't know that yet. I guess you will never know."

"What are you talking about? I don't understand anything you people are talking about and I don't understand what you want with me."

He sighed then laughed.

"Come on you know I can't just tell you. Figure out everything yourself. Its more fun that way don't ya think?"

He had a boyish attitude that reminded me of a bully from school.

"So I'm a toy to you?"

"If I want you to be."

I felt his presence leave. Finally I can breathe again.

"Remember she is mine to torment, not yours. Oh yeah scarlet, just because you can't sense me doesn't mean I'm not watching you."

"Get out girl."

I did what I was told, not because I wanted to obey him but because of what that other guy said.

"What happen? Did he touch you?"

"No why? I thought you said not to ask people questions around here?"

"Well, I was asking because you seemed different but since you can joke around I'm guessing you are ok."

"Actually no. I thought you said that guy in there runs this place. He doesn't run shit. So who runs this place 17?"

"He is. I never saw anyone else around here."

I stopped talking and sat on the ground. I rest my head on the wall and looked up at the ceiling.

"What's up?"

"I just don't know whats going on."

He sat beside me then said, "Well let's talk about it. What all do you know."

"Apparently I have a demon inside of me. My dad died trying to tell me who was after me. The place wants to separate me and the demon. And Joseph said that Lunar was trying to kill me."

"Do you believe him?"

"I don't know."

"When did he tell you this?"

"When I met him in here."

"Scarlet no one I'm here is the same so that guy you know isn't there anymore."

"He is in there somewhere. I need you to help us get out of here somehow."

"What did I tell you Scarlet. Rule number one never try to escape. They will skin you."

"I they are probably going to kill me anyway."

"Why do you say that? They would never kill anyone on purpose unless you disobey they or fail a mission."

"Ok well on the way here there was this guy. He was some sort of huge fish or something. He turned human and he said something about getting the demon out and killing me. He felt like the guy who was behind me. They are working together. If this is true I'm already dead unless I escape. 17 I'm only asking you don't have to."

"I never seen anyone abnormal around here."

"I know but I can feel them all around me like they are possessed by something."

"If you escape then what?"

"Then I go back to Lunar."

"This is stupid. You don't even know yourself. Look I'll think about it in the meantime try to figure out what is true."

"You wanted to talk to me?"

"Yeah."

"About what?"

"The things you said. About Lunar and the doctor getting the demon out of me."

"What about it?"

I grabbed Joseph on the sholders and looked into his eyes. I need to find him. He was hidden under the darkness. His eyes were so unfamiliar.

"Is it true?"

I broke through the darkness and found him. He relaxed in my arms.

"It's not true. Get out of here Scarlet they will hurt you."

"I'm not leaving without you."

"Why are you so stupid?"

I placed my forehead on his and asked "Why do you leave me?"

I felt him slipping from me again.

"Don't leave me."

He pushed me off of him.

"What did you just do to me?"

"Nothing."

He quickly left the cell. He was still in there. I need to get him out of here.

He had the same blank expression on his face. The guy really had no emotions.
