I was watching cartoons in the living room when I heard voices from the kitchen. I got up to go check who it was. It was my Dad and Kate. It seemed like they were having a disagreement.
I stood in the hallway where I could see them and listened to what they were arguing about.

"You were not suppose to do that?", Kate yelled.

"What exactly did I do?", Dad walked closer to her. He seemed really calm for a guy in an argument.

"You know what you did, I don't have to spell it out for you", Kate said not daring to lower her voice.

"Alright. I'm sorry. I didn't think it was gonna be a big deal", Dad decided to yell too.

"Big deal? Big deal? This is mostly what you do all the time", Kate replied, she wasn't yelling anymore, I guess she got tired.

"Hey, I love you and you know that", Dad sighed then walked back.
Okay, that's not how it works, they usually walk towards the girl not back.

"I don't know why you seem to doubt that", he added, he seemed tired too. Maybe they've been fighting for a while since they both look drained from their argument.

"Im going to take a bath and go hang out with Shaun", Dad said then walked my direction.
I quickly turned back and pretended I just came down from upstairs.

"Hello father", I greeted.

"Your mother is in the kitchen, go help her with cooking", he ordered then walked passed me.
My mother? That sounds so wrong.

I walked to the kitchen and found Kate staring out the window. She seemed deep in thoughts.

"Hello Ma", I greeted her and she turned to acknowledge my presence.

"I'm about to cook, do you wanna help out?", she asked moving to the stove.
I felt bad for her. Knowing my father, I wouldn't be surprised if he's having an affair.
And I thought Dad ordered me to come help her cook. If she's asking that means I could say no thanks and walk out.
But where will I go?
It's sucks not having friends around here.

“Sure”, I agreed not having any other choice.
She took out pots that we were gonna use, vegetables we were gonna cook and she started chopping them.
I took a knife and started doing the same as well. We started talking and sharing stories while we cooked.

An hour later the doorbell rang disturbing us. We were almost done though, I was now watching her cook since I stopped helping half an hour ago.

"I'll get it", I said jumping down from the counter I've been sitting on.
I walked to the door and opened it, and there stood Bruno.

"JR isn't home", I said after a 5 secounds stare at him.

"I'm not here for him", he smiled raising one of his eyebrows.

"Oh sorry, are you gonna come in or should I call Ma out?", I asked feeling a bit embarrassed for thinking he's here for JR.
He smiled even more then pulled me outside letting the door close behind me.

"Im about to go get ice cream in town", he said making me blush.
"Its out of this area so would you like to drive there with me?", he continued since I was quiet.

Is this a date?
Is he asking me out on a date?
Gosh what do I do?
What should I say?
I haven't been dating for a while now so this might be new to me.
The last thing I remember about boys is that they're heartbreakers, but I don't get that vibe from Bruno.

"So? What do you say?", Bruno asked since I wasn't saying anything.

"Oh crap, ummm", I sighed
"I'll go ask for permission", I said then walked inside to ask kate.
