Love Is Not Enough [Complete]

Chapter Six

After the ceremony was over, which it must be since it's past midnight already, I found myself still sitting outside on the same blue log I've been sitting on. Kiddo fell asleep long ago, her mother took him to bed. We've bonded pretty well before he fell asleep, he's been telling me about his school and friends.
I'm just glad he talked to me.
Everybody is drunk now, ecept for those like me.

"Hey", a girl greeted taking a seat besides me.
She's cute. Light skin with light brown eyes. She had blond Brazilian hair extensions, Bob styled. Her nails were painted grey and she looked more like a movie star.
It was my first time seeing a African woman with so much beauty.

"Hey", I finally answered.
"I'm Neo, my friends and family call me nana", she smiled in a very friendly manner.
I wonder why she isn't drunk and hanging from a boy's shoulder just like most of the girls here.

"Why nana?", I asked. It's far from Neo.

"Well, when I was young most kids couldn't pronounce my name",

"That's when you became nana?", I finished her sentence.

“Yep”, she nodded.

"I'm Linda",

"Short for Lindiwe?", she asked shifting her body closer to mine.

"No, it's just Linda", I smiled at how comfortable she's getting.

"You look so much like JR", she frowned like she was  thinking hard.

"He's my brother", I connected her dots so she'll stop thinking so hard.

"Who's older?", she frowned even more.
Great. My connected dots ain't working.

"He is, he's a month older", I answered. Seems like I confused her even much worse.

"We only share fathers", I smiled trying to untangle her thoughts, then remembered I haven't seen him around.

“Have you seen him around though?”, I asked since I last saw him when we got here.

"JR?",

"Yeah", I said with the excitement that maybe she has.

"They are probably parting around town", she shrugged her shoulders.
Okay that means I might see him later this morning or noon who knows...

"So? Are you family?", I had to ask since I have a large family.

"Unfortunately not, I came with Brenda",
I frowned, I don't know who Brenda is.

"The one dating Bruno",
Right! So she's Brenda.

"She has a short afro and hangs around Bruno, your brother's best friend",

“Hangs around Bruno?”, I frowned. Frowning seems like our thing, she was the one frowning and now it's me.
And when did Bruno and JR become friends? Where was I when that happened?

"Oh yeah, she's your friend?", I asked recovering from too much frowning.

"No she's my cousin", she smiled as if that's a good thing. Which is not since I might be interested in Bruno. I mean romantically interested. And if she's gonna be my friend, she might mess up everything for me.

"Oh that's nice", I smiled back.

"Do you want me to intro-",

"No thanks not today", I interrupted. I had to. I can't be introduced to her today or tomorrow or ever. Once we're introduced I'd have to be friendly to her, and she'll be friendly to me too and I'd feel like I'm betraying her if Bruno is interested in me as well.
