I stood there crossing my arms at the figure standing in my kitchen watching me. I dropped the sword off at the counter as I turned the light on.
"You should of been able to sense my presence." He looked out the window and then walked over to me.
"Well then Mr. Varn-"
"He interrupted me mid sentence, "We're on first name basis Isabella. Call me Alric please."
"Okay then Alric. I would like to know why you are at my house in my kitchen."
He looked at me with curiosity. "There are some important matters we need to tal-"
"Hold on," It was my turn to cut him off, "I don't know much about you and you come into my kitchen to talk important matter with me?" He was getting a little annoyed I could tell and he calmed back down. "How do I know I can trust you? I've been thrown on an adventure of a lifetime that I didn't ask to be on."
He responded in a calm tone, "I'm not here to fight you Isabella."
Disregarding what he said, I took my backpack and threw it on the table. "Why are you here then, there's nothing to talk about tonight."
I could feel Alric trying to stay calm, "I'm trying to help you. but you're stubborn."
"How is this helpin-," a loud sound came from the living room. "What the hell was that!"
He took off for the living room at a supernatural speed. I took the sword and quickly followed down the hallway. A man stood in my living room and the window was in shards scattered on the rug on the floor.
"Haven't you heard of using the door!" My mother was gonna kill me for this if I couldn't think of an explanion. "Now I have to explain why the window is broken!"
Alric quickly reminded me, "Isabella, the window isn't important right now. Your life is."
As he said that, the man had attacked me cutting at my side. I didn't have any time to react except in pain and I dropped my sword. "YOU BITCH!" I tried to hit him but I missed.
Alric quickly responded to his attacks to distract him from harming me anymore. I swiped the sword off the floor as I dodged the blade coming at me while still holding a cloth at my side to prevent my blood from losing too much blood.
I never used a sword before. I was standing there vulnerable, an easy target. I noticed the man from the corner of my eye and just as he aimed for my head, I blocked it last minute. I tried aiming at the man, he blocked of course but I had made him lose some balance. Swinging again I caught him and cut him a little, he swore at me under his breath. "Okay this isn't so hard."
I picked up the pace a little by little learning how to block incoming sword hits and attempting to strike back a few times. I still came off as a person with no sword experience but I wasn't completely helpless anymore. I blocked a good amount of his hits and him missing the others.
When I least exprected it, I felt his dagger dig at my side. Darkness started fogging my vision. "You little bitch. Think you can kill me? You barely know how to use a sword." I was losing blood fast from my open wound and was losing vision quickly. "Good game Isabella. Any last words before I kil-"
Alric has tackled him in middle of victory speech, and Alric plunged his dagger through his heart. He quickly came over to examine the cut as I lay there dying and weak. "Oh shit, that's a bad wound. This may hurt a little."
The last thing I remembered before passing out was the sudden pain that took over my body.
