I opened my eyes, the room was dark. I found out quickly I was bound to the metal bed when I couldn't move. "Hello?" All I could hear were the beeps of the machines and footsteps.

"How are you doing?" He kept his distance.

"I don't even know. I feel so out of place and disjointed, like this isn't my body."

"I was expecting that answer, I've had to keep you on strong medicine to keep you from almost hurting myself." He took a few steps closer.

I fought against the straps bounding me down but I was too weak. I stopped fighting them and laid there. "Where am I?"

"An isolation room in a remote hallway," he explained why, "They won't be able to reach you as easily this way while you recover."

"I can't save Damien if I can't save myself. What was I thinking?" I hated myself.

He tried to comfort me. "Don't think of it like that. You are still only developing your powers. Just cause your mom was gifted doesn't mean you'll get magik right away. Even she had to learn at one point."

"I guess so." I played with the straps in my fingers. "How long has it been?"

He looked at his watch, "Almost 18 hours. You seem to be sane."

"Sane is the exact opposite of what I am. I've been thrown into a world that I didn't know anything about and expected to survive." I stared at the ceiling. "It's Alice in Wonderland all over again, except I'm unable to slay the Jabberwocky."

He stood there in silence writing stuff down on a clipboard. "Do you want to see something?" He went silent afterward.

"What is it?" I tried to sit up but my wrists were bound down.

"Hold on," he undid the straps and let me stand. "Brace yourself for what I'm going to show you."

I was a little unstable at first but I gain my balance and stood up straight, I looked at my feet, no shoes and just socks. "Where now?"

"Follow me." He went out of the room and I hurried behind him almost slipping on the floor and crashing into him. "This way." He took a left and stopped at a window.

I looked at the window he stopped at. "What happened to them?" My heart broke when I saw a young child suffering and had crystals forming on half of his body. He was unable to move, and laid there in bed.

"It was unfortunate, we are still trying to find a way to remove the crystals without killing him." Sadness filled his eyes, "His family was attacked and he was the only survivor, but this was the price of his survival."

"They did that to him?" I couldn't take my eyes away and barely noticed as he move on a few rooms down. "Wait for me!" I caught up to him and slid to a stop.

"She was young when this happened." Inside the room was a girl, screaming and fighting the doctor. "Her family was kidnapped, her mother smuggled her to safety before she died from her wounds protecting her. Since then she has never been the same. They had tortured her family and killed them one by one."

"That's horrible." I looked into the girl's eyes, I could see pain and sorrow. She didn't give up the fight until they had her sleeping on the bed after sedating her.

We passed a few empty rooms, and stopped at another room at the end of a hall. He walked in through the door, and I followed after hesitating. Another door with a glass window was inside. "This is what I wanted to show you."

Inside was an almost dark room, I squinted to see what was in here. I saw a moving shape, it wasn't human but it wasn't creature. It came up to the window and stared at me. It's eyes were dark as a demons eyes, "What is this?" It stared at me and didn't look away.

"A rescue, it was too late to save them, but they have been here ever since." It hissed, fogging the window. "They became a half demon half human in the end, there was no way to reverse the damage."

I was speechless, "They turned him into a demon... And left them to suffer for the rest of their live..." I glanced at the poor creature again, it had retreated the the corner of the room and sat there staring at markings on the wall.

He left the room turning the light off and I chased after. "Wait," he paused, "Is that they were going to me when they took over my body and had me under their control?" Without him answered I had known the answer.

"They could of done multiple things to you, but that was an option. Torture would of been also an option for them."
He listed a few other ways but I had zoned out and missed them.

We stood back at the door of my room, I walked back in and sat on the edge of the metal bed. "I don't know, how am I supposed to survive. I could end up one of them or worse, buried in an unmarked grave." I stared down at the floor.

"You won't, you are stronger than you seem." He hesitated and put his hands in his pocket.

I looked at my hands, I recalled the patterns of a flame and traced them from memory.

"I'm gonna tell you something I never told anyone before." He took a ring out of his pocket, "This ring once belonged my fiancé. She died two months before our wedding."

I looked in his eyes, "How did she die?"

"She was attacked when she was alone in the bedroom, I heard screams and rushed up too late." He was crying now, "All that was left was her ring in the floor."

"They took her away from you..." I stared at little engagement ring that sat in the palm of his hand. "I swear I will get revenge on them for this."

I knew I had to defeat Anna and her master, no matter how hard they were and how prepared they were for me. They would not get away with every crime I've witnessed and gotten away with. They killed my mother, and almost took my life also. They will not win this battle, I would fight for the Celestial Realm and save it from the darkness.

My hands were shaking, "I have to put an end to the darkness. They can't just do as they please and push everyone around with the threat of power over the weak." I could feel the magik in my veins, it was in my blood. "It's my destiny I now see, to do this. My mother died and she left me the one task she failed to complete."

I could imagine my mother looking down at her daughter, watching her carrying out her fate. I could save Damien and put an end to the darkness forever, but not alone. I needed Alric to help me, he would train me for the moment where my life would be at the most risk. I would devote my life to seeking revenge for those lost and those still fighting. Giving up was no longer an option.
