the terror

We got to a trauma room.

Everything moved fast.

THIS WASN'T HAPPENING!

Shay called for me " gABBY GAB GABBY" I rushed to her side, holding her hand tight " I'm here babe I'm right here."

Natalie gloved up " ok Leslie I need to check you. your gonna feel some pressure." She screamed "ahhhh"

It was over

Natalie removed her gloves and sanitized " she's 6 centimeters.... but" I looked at her " but what?" She looked at me " I need to consult with an ob first..." Gabby looked at her "Natalie please just say it." She looked at us, seeing our fear " I think Leslie has placenta Pervia..." I looked at her " what is that?" Natalie looked at us " it's a condition where the placenta lies low in the uterus and it partially or completely covers the cervix. It can be risky for mom and baby. and Sometimes....

I don't mean to scare you, but  the plecenta can separate from the uterine wall as the cervix begins to dilate during labor...."

Shay shook her head " no...." Natalie looked at us " it isn't always caught before labor.... I'm sorry but this contemplates things..." Gabby looked at her " what do we do...?" She looked at me " There is no way this baby can be delivered vaginally and your too far along for the placenta Pervia to reverse itself"

Shay looked at me " no surgery!" I held her hand " babe this is about your health.... I know you wanted a natural delivery but this is our best option.. for you and baby!"

Dr.Riley pop in " listen to your wife" She looked at him " Dr... Riley" He looked at her " I'd like to get you to surgery your too far along to stop labor and as you progress things could deteriorate... and with the risk of hemorrhaging this is the safest option for you and baby"

Shay struggled " I can't breathe!" The doctor yelled " let's get her on oxygen and get her to the OR. now now move!"
