^^ Jackson Archer

Jacksons POV:

I don't hesitate to drop my helmet on the verandah scooping up Skye in a birthday hug when she opens the door. The truth is I don't have a single memory that doesn't involve this girl, She is my best friend, my other half, my Skye.
Nope, we are not together like that, she is worth way too much to me to just be a high school romance, I need this girl in my life forever. We shared our first kiss and I would not have had it any other way, there could be no awkwardness or nervousness when it was just us - Jackson and Skye, thats the way it had been for as long as I can remember. OK, Yes it doesn't hurt that the girl is as hot as fuck, beauty like that should be illegal and on top of that she is actually one of the sweetest girls you could even meet, she really is perfect, Not that I'd tell her that, shit she would think I had gone soft on her.

She squeals as I spin her one more time placing a kiss on her nose before setting her back to the ground, I allow my hands to linger on her waist to ensure she has her balance.

"Happy Birthday Star" I whisper to her as she beams at me.
I am the only one allowed to call her Star, the nickname I first came up with from a time of backyard camp outs where a little girl would spend her evenings getting lost in the display of lights that would dance across the sky, she wouldn't even go to sleep some nights until she had her time with the stars - hence the nickname.

"Ugh Jackson, isn't it time to move on from that?" she says rolling her eyes at me,

"Uh nope, not ever" I tell her crossing my arms on my chest to show how serious I am, "Come on let's do this - you're 17 today Star". She laughs at me grabbing the helmet on the floor and legs it to my bike parked at the end of her driveway.

My family hate my bike, I bought it the day I got my licence, not too long after my 17th birthday, My mother believes I bought the bike due to having a death wish, my brother Tyler - he thinks its a way to keep up my 'bad boy' act and my Dad well if he even noticed it would be a good day, long story short Dad decided he loved his job more that my Mum or us and they separated, You know how it goes after that right, fortnightly visits turned to monthly, which became school holidays and now its the occasional birthday and Christmas cards and maybe if we are super dooper lucky we might even get a phone call (sarcasm intended).

I call out to Skye as she approaches the bike
"Hey Star, how the hell are you going to ride with me in that" My eyes run down her long, bare legs in the very short skirt she wears, Flicking her hair over her shoulder waiting for me she replies

"You always seem to under estimate me Jackson" she bunches her skirt higher up her legs leaving very little to my imagination and takes the seat behind me, she pulls herself as close and she can her arms wrapped around my waist "take me away Jackson, Only you know where I want to go".

Laughing at her words I put the bike into gear and we start to move, faster and faster gliding through the streets of our home town until it is far in the distance, we continue to ride as the sun beats its warm rays down onto us. Of course I knew exactly where she wanted to go - nothing ever changes with her - It wouldn't matter how old she was or how grown up she tried to act, I knew this girl inside and out and that certain spot on the beach, a sight way off from the crystal clear water where the strangest combination of land vs sea - thats where she wanted to spend her 17th birthday, so until the sun had set and the stars that twinkled in the sky were reflecting in her eyes we stayed there, I sat my back against a tree, knees pulled up with Skye resting in between my legs, her head laying on my chest my arms around her shoulders. No big 17th birthday party, no crazy gifts, this place me and her was all she wanted, it was all she ever wanted. She was my touch stone, my saviour - often pulling me out of crazy situations by batting her eyes at me and pleading for me to just stay with her, and I was a god damn sucker for her and she knew it.

It was easy to escape in this place, there was never a huge crowd of people, just a few moving back and forth, losing time and wasting the day was simple as we laid in each others arms, but reality quickly
snapped us right back into the world when her mobile phone started ringing.

"Yeah, OK we are on our way" she said into her phone, she grinned at me as she hung up battering her long dark lashes - I was screwed - whatever it was, the answer was yes!

"Come on Jax, Mum and Dad want to have dinner and as my best friend of course you will come with me" she dropped her lip as if I would actually say no to her, Half grunting, half smirking I stood her up and we made our way back to the bike. She paused and grabbed my hand before we hopped on and wrapped my arms around her middle "Thank you Jackson, for knowing exactly what I wanted today" She was the only girl I would let touch me without asking or without an invitation, there was no boundaries when it came to our relationship and god help anyone who tried to get in the way.

"Come on Star, Mummy and Daddy are waiting" I kissed the top of her head and we began our ride home.
