Maya's Choice (1)

Maya's POV:

I walked her home that night and we went up to her room. I got a text from my mom a few minutes after.

Katy: Maya. I have something to tell you.
Maya: Yes?
Katy: I have a job interview in a few hours. If I get hired, I'll have to move to New Jersey. Your choice is to either come with me or stay here in New York. You'll have to either pay for an apartment by yourself or stay with Riley, but that's up to Corey and Topanga. You have until the day after tomorrow to make your choice.

I looked down. I tried my best not to cry and walked over to Riley. "Can you stay the night, Maya?" Riley asked me. "Sure sweetie." I told her.

I laid awake thinking about things nonstop. I didn't know what to do. I looked over to Riley who was sound asleep. I smiled, but the smile quickly faded. "Oh what am I going to do?" I whispered to myself.

The morning came slowly. I had to tell Riley sooner or later. She woke up a minute or two after I got up out of bed. "Maya!" She said with a smile. She came over to me and hugged me but I didn't hug back. "What's wrong Peaches?" She asked, looking into my eyes for answers. "Riley... My mom texted me yesterday." I began. I told her about the text messages and she looked to the ground. "What are you going to do?" I shook my head. "I don't know Riles. I.. I don't want to leave you. But I have until tomorrow to make my decision." Riley hugged me. "We'll figure this out Peaches, I'm sure. I'm always here for you." "Thanks Riles." I told her, hugging her back.
