Maya's Choice (2)

Maya's POV:

The day flew by as quickly as possible. I got more and more nervous as each second passes by.

The next morning Riley paced back and forth. "What are you going to do, Maya?" She asked me nervously. I sighed and stared at the ground. "Riles, my choice shouldn't be the thing we worry about. You know that I'll pick something that'll be best for us, right?" I told her, standing up and holding her by the waist tightly. I then kissed her lips and backed away slowly. She gave me a warm smile and replied, "Yes Peaches."

Corey then knocked on the bedroom door. "Maya, Katie is waiting downstairs for you." He said from behind the door. We both looked at each other nervously and I grabbed Riley's hand. "It's time." Riley said looking at me. I nodded. "Yes, but we're going to be okay." I assured her.

As we walked downstairs together, I looked at Katie. She gave me a warm smile and I smiled back. "Mom. I have made my decision." I told her. The room was left in silence for a few minutes.

Everyone was staring at me and mom, most likely wondering what was going to happen next. She then spoke, "Maya, whatever your decision may be, I promise that I'll be there for you more than I have been recently and I'm sure your decision is the best." Everyone then paid attention to me. Riley laid her head on my shoulder as I loosened my grip on her hand.

"Mom. I know that you work just to take care of me, and I appreciate that." I said, but stopped for a moment because I realized how everyone's face filled with happiness, especially Riley's. "... and I know that this is a good time for you." I then continued. "But, moving to New Jersey... it isn't going to make me happy. My happiness is here with Riley."

The room filled with silence as mom stood up. She gave me a smile. "This is exactly why I declined the offer earlier." She whispered to me and kissed my forehead. "I love working at Topanga's and I love seeing your friends gather together there. It is my happiness to see my own daughter happy, so we will be staying here." Everyone then cheered. "Group hug!" Riley yelled.

That night I gathered everyone around again. "Hey everyone! I'd like to make an announcement!" I said and pulled Riley close to me. I then held her hand and raised it with mine. "This might be surprising, or it might not. But... I am bisexual and me and Riley are dating!" I yelled and Riley gave me a hug. We both smiled as everyone stared at us. We saw some shocked faces as the room was quiet. Then, Corey and Topanga walked over to us. "Maya. Riley. Me and Corey are both very happy for you both." Topanga said while holding both of our hands. "Thanks mom!" Riley said with a smile and hugged her. Katie just looked at me disappointed. I sighed and looked back over at Riley, who was so happy.
