I went home after a few nights of bullshit in the office and jake followed me home. We hadn't stayed at each other's house all week because of how busy we had been, and I was excited for him to be over.

We went in my house and jake was being quiet, he didn't seem like he was acting weird... he was just quiet.

"You okay?" I asked as I handed him a beer from my fridge and he nodded and took a sip.

"I just keep thinking." He said.

"About what?" I asked and he shrugged.

"I don't know." He said.

"Something's obviously bothering you." I said and he sat on my counter and shook his head.

"I'm fine." He said and I stood in between his legs and he kissed my forehead.

"Jake." I sighed and he shook his head.

"I'm fine, Blaire. I promise you I'm fine. Don't worry." He said and I wrapped my arms around him and he held me. He kissed my temple and I rubbed his back.

"Don't stress about cases, please. We really are doing so good and we haven't lost a case yet-"

"I'm not worried about cases. I know we're fine. I'm worried about you." He said and I looked up at him with my eyes softened.

"You don't have to worry about me." I said and he shook his head.

"I just keep over-thinking and I know you're going to leave me. I just know you're going to get bored and you're going to be done." He said and I shook my head.

"No, Jake. Where are you getting that from? I'm not leaving you." I said.

"You didn't want me to begin with. I practically forced you to say yes and-"

"I said yes because I want to date you. Trust me when I tell you. I'm an independent woman and I will never depend on a man. I wouldn't let you force ne to say yes and if I even felt one bit that you were forcing me, it wouldn't have fucking happened. I've wanted to date you. You didn't force anything. That day at your parents, I saw a side of you I never had seen and I thought it was the cutest thing. You were so soft that day and when we were in the pool and when you were laughing-I want that. I want you everyday. I'm not leaving you." I said.

"I know, but like you said I'm ruthless and I'm an asshole at times and I-"

"Jake. I was kidding. I'm not going anywhere. Unless you give me a reason to leave you, I'm not going anywhere. You may be ruthless but you're a fun ruthless, and you don't do anything illegal because you're not that much of an idiot. You're a goofy idiot and I love it." I said and he smiled weakly and I kissed him.

"Don't worry about that. Please." I said and he nodded.

"Thank you." He said and I kissed him. He rubbed my back and he took another sip of his beer as his phone started to ring. He mumbled and answered and he looked so annoyed as soon as he answered.

"I'm not going back to the office tonight." He sighed and I cocked an eyebrow and he got down off the counter but wrapped his arms around me and he rested his hand on my ass.

"I'm sorry. I'm about an hour and half away from the office and I'm not driving back. It was a long day." He said.

"Bye." He said and he rolled his eyes and hung up.

"Who was that?" I asked.

"Morgan." He said.

"Why was she calling?" I asked.
