The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.

Sarah Williams sighs, slamming her pencil down in frustration.

Her algebra homework is splayed out in front of her—the current cause of her increasingly growing headache.

She's been working on it for hours and still hasn't managed to get through even half of the assignment.

It's driving her insane.

The blond-haired girl leans back in her seat, hands over her face, and lets out a muffled scream.

Somewhere to her right, an amused chuckle rings out.

"Glad to see you find this so amusing, Dad." Sarah says, voice still muffled from her hands.

John Williams comes into the room with a smile and takes his daughter's hands from her face. "I'm sorry, sweetheart. It's just that I've told you over and over not to stress over this so much. You'll get it eventually."

Sarah frowns. "But I don't have time for eventually, Dad! I need to make sure I have good grades so I can get into a good college one day and—"

"And you will." Her father interrupts her. "You'll get there. It just takes time." He gently kisses her on the forehead. "But for now," he starts out, snatching Sarah's textbook up and tucking it under his arm as she lets out a startled noise of indignation, "You are going to take a break. Well, a break from this at least. Get up. I need you to watch your sister while I'm gone to work."

"Wait, what? No, Dad! I have to study. Please just—" Sarah fumbles for the words to convince him.

At least until her dad holds up a hand to stop her from continuing any further.

"No arguing. You haven't spent time with your sister in ages. And now is as good a time as any for that to happen." he states.

Suddenly, another crash of thunder boom, booms! almost directly outside Sarah's window, causing the both of them to flinch in surprise.

"You're going out in this weather? Seriously, Dad?" the young teen asks worriedly. "What if something happens?"

Before Sarah's very eyes, her father's expression twists with a hint of remorse.

John Williams is a kind man, and Sarah knows he loves her and her sister, Harper Williams, dearly.

But that doesn't change the fact that money needs to be made.
