Freezing cold water drenched my face and I woke abruptly with a yelp. "Oh, good," The man holding an empty bucket said. "You're up."

I spit the water that had gone into my mouth in his face.

The last two days, he had used the same tactic to wake me up. I just had swallowed the water and said nothing - my plan being to stay silent and not answer anything he asked. But today, I had a new plan.

Annoy him.

If I hit all the right nerves, he might go away for a little while - and I could try untying the ropes. "I'd rather be sleeping, dude." I said, He angrily wiped a hand down his face in an attempt to get my spit off of it.

"Watch it, girl. Or you'll enter a sleep you'll never wake up from." He snarled, glaring at me. I just grinned back at him and raised an eyebrow. "Oh, so I'm Aurora now?" I questioned innocently.

"Who the hell is Aurora, and why should I care?"

I fake gasped and said, "Oh my god,  you're worse than Steve. Either you had no childhood, or you're an extremely old super-soldier. Honestly, though, you don't look like one. You're not that  strong, I mean you just look average compared to Steve. That man is extremely  buff. But still, a super-soldier can't really compare to a god. The order goes - and this is least to greatest - you, super-soldier, and then gorgeous Asgardian god! I mean, don't even get me started  on his physique.. But I'm getting off topic! I bet it was  that you had no childhood! That could totally be true! You've already hit me, a girl, multiple times - and most  mothers teach their normal little boys not to do that. And, apparently, you've never seen Sleeping Beauty which is a Disney classic -"

He glared at me, and pulled a knife out of his pocket as he pressed it to my throat to stop my rambling.

Oops. I might've gone too far.

"Bad move." He said lowly, through gritted teeth. I laughed, despite the fact that he had a knife on me. "Oh, I'm so sorry man. I just said that to somebody once." I changed my tone to be threatening. "And then killed him."

"You sure about that?"

The man pulled his mask off of his face.

He looked just like the man who tried to rob me - that was obvious. James Goodman was standing in front of me, even though I threw him out of window. I wanted to know how the hell he was still alive, but I decided to annoy him a little more.

"I am. Yeah, no, I threw this dude out of like a 12th floor window. His name was.." I hesitated, acting like I couldn't remember his name. "Oh! It was something along the lines of Joe Goodman- really weird guy. I know, his name sounds weird, but I swear-"

He cut me off before I could start rambling again. "You don't remember me?!"

"Well, of course I remember you. That's such a stupid question. But you know what isn't- where the hell did that Ravana dude go?! Oops, I'm getting off topic again. How could I not remember you? You're my torturer, plus the only person I've seen for like, three days. Has it really been that long, though? I mean, it's not like there are any clocks in this old place that I could watch circle around. They have to circle twice for it to be a day, right? I've never been great at reading clocks. You might have a watch, though! Actually - scratch that plan. 'Cause I have a phone in my pocket, and you could just take it out for me and check the date-"

"Stop talking! I'm James Goodman! Ravana found me, and fixed me up! He promised me revenge on you, and that's what I'm getting. But apparently, you don't even remember me! "

"Oh, I'm sorry. Did it hurt your feelings that I just wanted to annoy you a little? I did  recognize you." I said making my voice baby-ish as I grinned. "It's just really funny when you get mad."

"Oh, I'll show you what's funny." He sneered at me, and shoved his knife against my throat, causing a drop of blood to escape my skin and drip down. "Now, did you say that you have a phone?"

I didn't reply.

"Answer me!" He screamed, using his free hand to punch my shoulder where he had previously stabbed me. Wincing, I clenched my teeth together tightly to stop from screaming. I had returned to the 'be silent plan' after I had slipped up by accidentally mentioning that I had my phone.

I knew Tony would figure out eventually that he could track it, but my god - it was taking him forever. James growled in frustration, taking me away from my thoughts. He pulled the knife off my throat, and put it back in his pocket. He reared back a fist to punch me, using his better hand that was formerly holding the knife.

His fists rammed into my face, making white spots dance in my vision as I suffered through his many hits. Explosions of pain ran rushed through me, as impact after impact hit. I cried out in pain, wishing I could just be out of this damn chair already. I shut my eyes tightly, and waited for more punches to come.

But they didn't.

Slowly opening my eyes, I saw the most amazing thing ever. My friends, all standing in a protective circle around me. They stood in front of the chair I was tied to, blocking James from hurting me anymore. All six of them provided a human barrier between him and I.

"Run." Natasha said slowly. "Run before I get just a little less merciful and decide to rip you apart, piece by piece. And, trust me, it would be slow and painful, and not  something you want to experience." Her words were low, threatening, angry.

I watched as he sprinted away full speed, not caring about anything other than escaping the clutches of a pissed-off Natasha Romanoff. As soon as he was gone, everyone whipped around to face me. I gave them a weak smile.

"Took you long enough."

"I guess getting that beat up hasn't knocked the sarcasm out of her." Tony muttered. Thor let out a choked laugh, causing my attention to focus on him.

"Y/N." Thor muttered quietly. As he softly raised a hand to my cheek, brushing his thumb carefully along my bruised skin. Steve ripped the ropes apart, giving my arms and hands the freedom to move. I struggled to keep consciousness and my body swayed to the side as my eyelids fluttered.

"Whoa, there." Clint said, quickly catching me. He wrapped an arm around my waist. "Can you stand?" He asked me. I opened my mouth to answer, but was cut off by Nat. "Clint, does she really look like she can? Thor will carry her."

I was too exhausted to blush or argue, and just gave in to Natasha's order. Thor scooped me up in his arms, and I let my body fall limp as his rippling muscles held me tightly against his chest bridal-style.

He looked down at me, my E/C eyes meeting his shining blue ones.

"Thor?"

"Yes, Y/N?"

"Thanks."

Using the last of my strength, I reached up to kiss his cheek. I collapsed back into his arms, my world turning black.
