The knocking at the door continued. I got annoyed and hustled toward the living room.
I approached the door unlocking the bottom knob twisting it open.
A tall guy with blonde hair and a good looking face stood in the doorway. He wore a black leather jacket along with a plain gray T-shirt and dark blue skinny jeans.
"Hi" he spoke
"Hi" I respond
"Sorry if i scared you but Is Jake home?" He asked searching behind me.
"No he's at work, he will be here by 12:00 or so" I informed him.
He pulled out his hand from his right front pocket and directed his attention down to check on his watch.
"I'll wait"
"Would u like to come in?" I opened the door widely so he can make his way through.
"Thanks" He stepped inside.
My nostrils couldn't help but take in the sweet pleasant fragrant coming from him as he passed by.
I closed the door.
He explored the house all around. Taking every bit of his surroundings. I felt a little embarrassed that the house wasn't in a great shape.
"Would you like anything to drink, water, juice.." I offered.
"No, thank you" he took a seat on the tatty black velvet couch.
I stood there awkwardly not knowing what to do. I'm not that of an expert when it comes to having company. Jake is the one bringing all of his buddys over.
No matter how bad I wanted to go to my room and watch TV, I couldn't leave him here alone. I don't trust him well enough.
I walked over to the couch next to him where he was seated at.
"So what do you need Jake for?" I sat down.
"My car broke down and the engine won't work well enough. I heard Jake knows a little bit of mechanics so I came here. See if he could do something about it"
"Mmm that's unfortunate. I'm sure my brother can repair your car." I replied.
Before Jake's previous job he worked at a mechanics shop where people came in and left their cars to be fixed. He earned a lot of cash. Later on he quitted for the causes of the customers rude behaviors towards him.
"So your Jake's little sister?" He seemed unconcerned.
"Yes I am"
"Well nice to meet you" he extended his arm to my direction.
"Nice to meet you too" I shook his hand.
"I'm Owen by the way"
Owen. Sounds like a familiar name. Where have I heard it before?
"I'm Alison" I introduce myself.
"I've heard" he said
I grabbed the TV remote from the table and pressed the power button. I wasn't sure what to put on right now.
"So what do you regularly watch?" I waited for the TV to power on.
"Oh I don't watch TV." He looked down at his hands.
"Why not?" I turn my head facing him.
"I don't know" he looked at me
"Maybe it's because I grew up without one and got the habit of it" he chuckled.
Law and Order appeared on the TV.
I grabbed the remote from my lap.
"Leave that on, it seems interesting" he stopped before I could press the channel button.
I pulled out my phone from my pocket and texted Jake.
"Your friend Owen's here, mind hurrying up" I powered off my phone as soon as I hit the send button.
I turn my attention back to the TV joining Owen.
He seems like a nice guy. I wonder how he meet Jake.
After watching 3 episodes of law and order my eyelids starting closing and I started feeling sleepy.
I looked over to the clock on the wall.
11:28p.m
Jake will be here in no time.
I gazed next to me where Owen was focused on the TV. I guess he's into that show after all.
I rested my head on the side of the beige pillow cushion and fell asleep.

Waking up.... My eyes squinted shut trying to avoid the filtered sunlight drifting in from the window, the inevitable dread of opening them to the sudden glare of a dimly lit room. I open one eye quickly feeling the burn in my shocked retinas.
Why is it so bright. I flickered both of my eyes looking into reality. Oh, that's right I slept in the couch. Why else would my room be this bright if its regularly dark.
I was covered in blankets that I guess my brother must've placed them there. I stretched my whole body rubbing my eyes with my hands.
All I've been doing lately is sleep.
I sat up and pulled the blankets to the side. I walked to the bathroom to do my usual morning routines. Brushing all my hair in a high pony tail after.
I went to my room to change into my dark gray yoga pants and a black plain shirt. Putting on my shabby running shoes on. I grabbed my phone from the couch and exited out the front door.
"Where you going?" Jake was outside fixing Owens car.
"Taking a walk" I walked passed them.
"Take Owen with you"
I groaned in discomfort. I was planning to go alone.
"I think I'll just stay here" Owen said.
Did he even hear me?
"Its alright you can come along. Your car will still be here by the time you get back" I told him not trying to be rude.
He took one last glanced at Jake before walking towards where I was.
"So you stayed up watching TV yesterday?" I started the conversation as we walked down the solid sort of dirty sidewalk.
"Yeah, but you fell asleep" he laughed showing off his flawless smile.
I joined him. He had taken his leather jacket off leaving only his gray sleeveless shirt. I stared at his extensive arm muscles.
"Where you from?" I asked him trying to be friendly as possible.
"I'm from Canada" he answered.
"That's nice" I never been to Canada before, but I do wish I could go visit someday.
"No its not. I don't like it there" he stopped.
"Why not?" I turn to look at him.
"People treat you like crap and make you feel unwanted over there. Also the town i live in its in such a bad shape. That's why I moved here along with my cousin." He continued walking.
"Well that's unfortunate." I scratched the back of my head.
"How do you like it here so far?" I changed the subject.
"It's nice"
Throughout the rest of the walk we talked about the beautiful things that happen on denver.
