"You guys wanna head down to La Push for a little while?" Jake asks after a few hours of being at Sam's.

"That actually sounds like a good idea. Jake, you take Leah and Seth. I'll take Emily. Paul and Quil have to stop by and pick up Claire. So, Embry, you can drive (Y/n)," Sam orders while we walk out of the front door.

Embry and I instantly look to each other. A blush forms across both of our faces before we both look down.

"Um, okay, sure. Follow me (Y/n)," Embry says nervously.

I follow him to the side of Sam's house, where his truck is parked. He walks over to the passenger side and opens the door for me. I climb in and give him a soft smile as he shuts my door and walks over to his own. For the first few minutes the truck is filled with silence as Embry drives down the road.

"(Y/n), I really am sorry about what happened back there with Jake. I would promise that it won't happen again, but I'm not sure if I can control it. I'll do my best next time though," Embry says quietly, breaking the silence.

I can hear the regret lacing his voice as he stares at the road. I feel so bad for him. Him and I both know he can't control what the imprint does to him and yet he is still apologizing for it. He needs some sort of comfort right now.

I slowly reach over to the hand he has sitting on the console. I lace my fingers with his, causing him to look down at our hands before looking up to me.

"It's okay, Embry. It wasn't your fault. I'm never going to get upset over something you can't control," I tell him with a reassuring smile.

Embry blushes and smiles at me before looking back to the road. He lightly rubs his thumb along the back of my hand as he continues the drive.

After a minute or two we pull up to the beach. Embry throws the truck in park and looks down at our hands. He lets mine go and as he does, a sharp pain goes through my chest.

Why am I so hurt by such a simple action?

Embry places his hand on his door handle but right before he opens it, he pauses. He turns to face me and I'm caught off guard by the serious look painting his features.

"(Y/n) I just want you to know, you don't have to be in a relationship with me right now. You're my imprint and it's my job to be anything you need me to be. A friend, a brother, a protector, a boyfriend. You have a choice, and there is no rush in you making your decision."

I stare at Embry in shock. Not once did I ever think about it like that. I was so set on just being with him that I didn't even consider my other options. That's honestly a little embarrassing and something I will never admit out loud.

A blush creeps across my face and I turn away. When I turn back to Embry, he has a look of concern covering his features. I lean up and peck his cheek before pulling on my handle.

"Thank you," I say as I shut my truck door.

Seconds later, I hear Embry's shut as well. I turn to my left to see a very flustered and very red Embry walking my direction. Exchanging a smile, we walk towards the others, who were already starting a fire close to the water's edge.

"Woah, why's Embry's face so red? What were you two doing in there?" Jake asks as he raises his eyebrow with a smirk.

"You really wanna know?" I retort, with a smirk of my own.

Jake freezes and his eyes go wide. Behind Jake, I see Paul snarl in my direction. Embry's blush deepens as he looks at me in shock. All the others grow silent as they stare at the two of us. Suddenly, I burst into a fit of laughter, causing raised eyebrows from everyone around me.
