"Baby, please?"
"Embry, for the last time, we are not getting a dog collar for Kaien!" I huff as I walk into his kitchen.
"Oh, come on! It would be so funny. And you have to admit, he acts just like a dog," Embry begs as he follows after me.
"Where's your cereal at?" I ask, ignoring his statement.
"(Y/n), at least just think about it?" Embry asks, giving me the best puppy dog eyes he can muster.
"Okay, fine! I'll think about it if you tell me where the cereal is," I retort, tired of the conversation we've been having since I woke up in his bed an hour ago.
"Cabinet on the far left," Embry says, pointing the cabinet in front of me.
I open it and grab a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch out, pouring some into my bowl. I walk over to the fridge and add some milk in my bowl as well. When I turn around Embry is handing me a spoon from his seat. I grab it and sit down next to him, eating my cereal.
It's been a few weeks since Ben's gotten here.
A few weeks since Kaien interrogated him.
A few weeks since Jake told me the truth.
A few weeks since since I've been fighting an inward battle.
People are starting to notice Jake and I's tension every time we're together. A few of them have even questioned me about it, wondering if we had a fight. After I assure them everything is alright they automatically put it on the back burner.
We have a bigger problem at hand.
Ever since the bonfire that night, Kaien and Ben can't seem to be within five feet of each other without going for each other's throats. Everyone is starting to get suspicious about what Ben said. I, myself, am beginning to get a little curious.
Speaking of Ben, I've been teaching him all about our legends and customs. I try to ask a little bit about him every chance I get, to see if I can make my uneasiness settle. Something about him just feels off and I know everyone else senses it too.
As for Embry, he's been really goofy and happy this week. Something about the Cullen's leaving town for good, I think. He's so excited about it. He's been acting childish and giddy ever since Sam told us. This is why he asked about the collar for Kaien.
"(Y/n)?"
"Yeah, Emmy?" I say, looking to my right at Embry, who's brows are slightly furrowed.
"Do you love Jake?"
I choke on the cereal I'm swallowing, causing myself to cough a little. My eyes go wide and my mouth falls open as I gape at my boyfriend. I quickly regain myself, painting a small smile on my lips.
"Well, yeah. He's my best friend."
"You know I didn't mean it like that," Embry corrects, barely above a whisper.
He chews on his bottom lip slightly, his brows knitting together. As I stare into his eyes, I notice the tears starting to slowly well in them. His previous carefree demeanor is completely gone. Replaced with one of worry and hurt.
"Emmy, hey," I turn to him, placing both of my hands on the side of his face. "I love you. You have nothing to worry about."
"I can't tell when you're lying," he retorts, the tears finally spilling out of his eyes. "(Y/n), do you love him?"
He looks at me with pleading eyes, begging me to tell him no.My hands fall from his face and into my lap. My own tears begin to well in my eyes as I stare at my lover's face. As a single tear falls from the brim of my eye I grab onto his hand.
