After yesterday's encounter with Kurtz, Valencia didn't know how to act anymore. Every time she saw the junkie staring at her, she felt vulnerable. He makes her feel some kind of way. Some kind of way she shouldn't feel about the insane guy.
Tired of all the meetings recently, Jughead called one more. Not to Valencia's surprise anyway. As the Serpents piled in, they all noticed something different. The previous Serpent leader, now Sheriff, FP Jones attended.
"What the hell is he doing here?" Kurtz said, annoyance in his tone, asking what all the people present in the room were thinking.
After a brief introduction, and another dig at Kurtz. Jughead answered the former question.
"That's why, with the help of my father, Serpent Emeritus, we've come up with a plan..." he trails, catching everyone's attention. "You'll work for me." FP boasted.
"In return, you'll get paid. Receive school credit to help you apply to colleges." Sweet Pea smiles over at Fangs, both boys nodding their heads agreeing with the proposition. Valencia gulped, knowing Kurtz would turn this down. She wanted to get paid. She wanted the credit. She wanted the boy. But she couldn't have all. Valencia didn't exactly picture herself ever working for the police and never really wanted to, maybe it would good to change.
Jughead explained further, that it would be a new chapter for the Serpents and that non of them could be divided about it.
"So lets put this to a vote." Jug announced.
"And if it not unanimous..." FP stepped closer to Kurtz singling him out.
"There's the damn door." Kurtz and the Sheffield glared at each other. Both knowing this was the end for him.
"All in favour." This was it. Her decision. Sweet Pea and Fangs quickly raised their arms, at his prompting, some of the Gargoyles follow suit along with Sweet Pea's sister who barely even managed to raise her arm. Glancing over at Kurtz, he gave her one last look and a sad smile which would have gone unnoticed by any one else. Finding himself alone, the messy dark haired boy shot Jughead a piercing look. The leader of the Gargoyle gang hopped off the desk and strides out the door.Once the long winded meeting had finished Valencia felt relieved. And not so tense anymore. She looked around the halls for Kurtz but couldn't find him, so she looked round the rest of the school in places she thought he could be. Clearly after he was singled out of the meeting, he got his bag from his locker and left. Going to the only place she knew, her hopes of finding him was very slim.
The girl returned to the place which once terrified her. Slightly calmer than last time, she stepped through the door alone.
She tried not to make any noise in case some other Gargoyles came back. Her foot stumbled upon another doll's body part causing her to jump, catching Kurtz' eye.
"Can't keep away can you Princess." He called. His voice monotone, more bland than when he previously called her that. Guessing he was annoyed and hurt from the betrayal of his fellow Gargoyles, she sat besides him. The smell of drugs and sugar filled her nose, making her gag slightly but surely pushing it down. Even though Kurtz was so hung up on Gryphons and Gargoyles, he showed certain points of staying grounded.
There was along silence between them. A uncomfortable silence. Kurtz was the first to brake it.
"So what brings you here? Im guessing Jughead didn't send you to get me to join again, so what's going on?" He asked.
Coming to think of it she didn't actually understand why she came to find him.
Val shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know." she whispered.
He looked her in the eyes. "You must know, otherwise you would have come." Kurtz's voice raises a little. Agitated why she wouldn't tell him. A part of him thought it was the Serpents spying on him and to do something about the drugs. But another part of him believed she was different, he wanted to believe that.
"I wanted to find you after the meeting to check if you were okay I guess" she offered.
"Well I'm fine." He deadpanned.
Valencia placed her hand on his shoulder. He flinched at the small gesture but let her hand remain there. Another silence washed of them.
Looking into his eyes, her mind was trying to depict his thoughts and feeling. Only he was trying to do the same. However he was more interested in her feeling about him.
Without thinking, he grabbed to back of her neck taking the raven haired girl by surprise. With a little hesitation, his lips clashed down on hers. He kissed her deeply, after a few seconds, realising what was happening, she kissed him back with twice as much passion and eagerness.
Flash backs appeared in her mind to how Sweet Pea had insulted him only two nights before. All negative thoughts swirled around her head and what her brother would do if he knew. As the kiss increased, Valencia pulled back and smiled, which he happily returned.
"I've got to go, my brother will be wondering where I am." she scrambled to her feet brushing herself off.
"Yeah yeah of course." he replied a change in his mood from earlier. Now he was truly happy, only wishing it never ended. If anyone knew how much he cared for her, he would be dead. So he had to keep his feeling secret. Under wraps.
"I'll see you tomorrow at school." She shouted as she reached the door, he nodded in response before she left out of view.Once the long haired girl reached Sunnyside trailer park she was faced with all the Serpents, and now Gargoyles, scattered on different chairs and in different areas. Sweet Pea, Fangs and Jughead all raised their heads to face her.
Sweet Pea had that all to familiar serious look on his face, whilst Jughead raised his brows. "And you were where exactly?" Sweets abruptly asked his sister.
"Why are you always on my case Sweet Pea? You're my brother, not my owner. I'm old enough to go places wherever I want." She fired back. Shock filled their faces.
"Is it or is it not a coincidence that Valencia just so happens to leave school just after Kurtz hm?" Jughead interject. Now she was the shocked one. She didn't expect that from him.
Fangs looked at her with a sad smile feeling sorry for the girl.
"So what? I left school and so did he. Doesn't mean we were together does it?" Val raised her hands in emphasis. With that, she strutted back to her trailer and slammed the door in anger. If only they knew what really went on.Valencia was lead in her bed, unable to sleep, recalling all of the days events. A gentle knock at the door drifted her from her thoughts. It creaked open, revealing a very tired looking Sweet Pea.
"Couldn't sleep either?" he joked. Not receiving anything other than an unimpressed stare from his sister. His hand caressed the back of his neck awkwardly.
"I just wanted to say I'm sorry for earlier, I don't want it to feel like I'm always on your case. I just don't want you to get hurt or for anything to happen to you. Cause if it did and I wasn't there or not knowing where you were, it would break my heart." He replied honestly.
His sister smiled at him.
"I get it, I do, just please give me some leverage?" She asked hopefully. He nodded in response. "Of course, goodnight sis." He said closing the door behind him.
"Night." she whispered softly, before drifting into oblivion.
