Chapter 17: The Hike

It was only a while after everyone fell asleep. Then the night went by. At 7:00 am, arlo woke everyone up. Rise and shine, sleepy heads, he shouted. Aiger was up and refreshed after sleeping, but nika was having trouble getting up. Nika wake up, it's time to get moving. It took awhile, but she got up, but she looked tired. How are you guys so full of energy?, she asked them in a tired voice. My dad usually wakes me up around this time, arlo responded. So I'm used to it. And I live on a farm, aiger responded. I have to wake up early for school, and for work everyday. Now you tell me, she moaned. Come on, I made breakfast, arlo told them. Alright, I'm coming, I'm coming, she said, still tired. As soon as she got up, she saw a floating sheild with food on it, and three rocks around it. Am I already hallucinating from a lack of sleep?, she questioned herself. Hey nika, you gonna eat or not, aiger called out. I'm gonna eat, she assured them. She walked up and sat on one of the rocks. How's this sheild able to float like this?, she asked them. I'm making it float, arlo explained. I thought you controled weapons, she said in confusion. A sheild isn't a weapon. True, but something doesn't have to be dangerous to be a weapon, arlo responded. Anyway eat up, we're leaving in thirty minutes, he said. Sure thing, nika and aiger said together. As soon as they were finished, the packed up, and started walking. They kept at it for half of the day, until they stopped at near the edge of a river for a break. And for some lunch. Anyone hungry?, arlo called out. Yeah, I am, aiger said. Same here, nika said after him. Good, because I made lunch, arlo said happily. They came to arlo and and sat down to eat. He had prepared cooked fish with orange juice. Everyone sat down and enjoyed their meal. Wow arlo, your a good cook, aiger complemented. Aww thanks, arlo said blushing. Where'd you learn to cook like this?, nika asked. My dad may be the god of war, but that doesn't mean fighting is my only hobby. I like to cook and play sports, not to mention bey battle, arlo explained. Hey I forgot to ask, when we get to your cousins, let's battle, aiger said challenging arlo. Your on, arlo said accepting his challenge. But I better warn you, when I fight, I'm a completely different person, arlo said in a frightening voice and giving off a powerful aura. It sent chills down aiger and nika spines and they froze with fear. But arlo went back to being himself. Heh heh, sorry if I scared you, I just wanted to show you my battle side, arlo explained. It's alright, aiger and nika assured him in frightened tones. Great, anyways let's get back at to matter at hand, arlo said. I got the fish from the river using swords to catch them. And I made the orange juice using some oranges I had in my bag. Finish up, we leave in thirty-three minutes, arlo told them. Alright, aiger and nika said in sync. As soon as they were finished, they took the time they had to rest and digest their food. When time was up, they went back to walking. They saw lots of amazing sights along the way. But it was about to nightfall. We're only half an hour away, arlo informed them. We should go while we can. But we're tired arlo, nika complained. Don't worry, I know how to get there without having to walk, arlo answered. He brought out the sheild he had earlier, his sword, and then told aiger to use his powers to summon his sword. Then he made the sheild and sword float. Arlo rode his sword as if it was a hover board, and nika sat on the sheild like it was a flying carpet. Then arlo made aiger's sword hover like his, and they were on their way. Why didn't you do this earlier?, aiger asked arlo. I save this as a last resort, arlo responded. Can't have humans see me using my powers.
