Chapter 26: Siblings and Godly Parents

As soon as the trio got their food, they started eating. Arlo just stared at his food. Hey arlo, you gonna eat that, aiger asked with food in his mouth. Aiger, don't talk with your mouth full, nika scolded at him. Aiger looked scared, then finished chewing, then swallowed. Sorry, I forgot, he said to nika. Least we know we got a big sister looking after us, arlo joked, and yes I am going to eat. Good, wait big sister, nika said confused. How old are you guys, she asked. I'm eleven years and six months old, aiger said. And I'm actually twelve years and three months old, arlo said. I knew you were lying about being older than fifty, aiger exclaimed. You got me, arlo said defeated. But that means your both older than me, nika said surprised. But why'd you call me big sister, she asked. Because you act like your older and remind me of my young-self. Your young-self, nika said curiously. Back when I was five, I always wanted to have a big brother or a big sister, minimum younger siblings, but I was an only child my whole life, arlo explained. But then my mom died in an accident, and I had no other relatives. But a saytr brought to camp half-blood when I was seven, then my dad claimed me, so I was put in the ares cabin, but since Zeus killed all of ares' children, I was still alone. So having you guys with me makes me really happy. Both aiger and nika looked at him, speechless. Wow, that's deep, aiger said. Do you guys have any brothers or sisters, arlo asked. I have a twin brother named toko, and a big brother named valt, nika said. Toko and I get along, but valt's just plain embarrassing, nika said while chuckling. Must be nice, arlo said with envy. How bout you aiger, he asked. Well, I have a little sister, he replied. Her name is naru, she knows a lot and she's always there for me. That also must be nice, arlo said with envy again. But your dad is ares, he can't die, so why didn't he take care of you, nika said. That goes against divine laws, if he were to interfere with the mortal world, there could be trouble that couldn't be stopped. So the gods aren't allowed to see their children very often, arlo explained. Some loose faith in seeing them, others remain faithful. I met my dad a few times, and I know he's looking after me, he said hopefully. That's good to know, at least your our friend, nika said. Thanks, that means a lot, arlo said. He was thankful that he had friends like aiger nika, and he was no longer alone.
