Chapter 21: Confession and Confliction

Nika looked in confusion at what he said. But realized it a second later. She started blushing, and getting redder by the second. W-w-what do you mean?, she said nervously. I-it doesn't matter now, aiger said disappointed. He was about to leave until nika grabed his arm and spoke. I think, that your kind, impulsive, and a really nice guy, she said anxiously, and still red. Aiger than started blushing while scratching his head. Really, you mean it, he asked. Yeah, I do, she responded. They started to hold hands, but then they heard an explosion. It was loud enough to even wake up arlo who was a deep sleeper. Aiger and nika were surprised by the vibrations. What's happening, aiger shouted. What's going on, arlo shouted. Then Jerry came bursting in. We're under attack, he shouted desperately. Who's attacking, arlo asked. Monsters, he answered. What kind, their kind or other?, arlo asked again worried that they might accuse aiger and nika of being spys. Greek, jerry answered, so those two aren't the enemy. That was a relief for the three of them. We need all available fighters on the scene, he said. Then arlo and aiger activated their powers to join the fight. Nika, stay here, I don't want you getting hurt, aiger told her. But I can't let you get hurt either, she protested. I'll help by casting long-range spells at the enemy, she suggested. Alright, do it, he told her. But jerry, stay with her to help and keep her safe, aiger told him. Yes sir, he said in agreement. Get into your positions, it's time to fight, arlo said in excitement. Your always up for a fight, aren't you arlo, jerry teased. So what, I get it from dad, he said. Let's go. Right, everyone else said. Nika and jerry got into their positions. And then aiger and arlo went out to fight. And they were destroying monsters like masters. I don't feel right about killing nika's kind, aiger complained. You can't kill monsters, you can only despel them for a while, sometimes a whole life time, but they'll reform, or come back later, arlo explained. How do know that?, aiger questioned. It's one of the first things half-bloods learn at camp, he answered. Wait, what do you mean camp, aiger asked him. I'll explain later, just focus on the battle. As they fought the Hephaestus kids were either sending robots to fight for them, fighting themselves, or shooting fire at the monsters. After what seemed like hours, all the monsters retreated. As everyone cheered in victory, aiger thought about what arlo said about monsters. Wait, that would mean nika is immortal, so she can't die, but I could, he thought. I better tell her this tomorrow.
