The next morning Archie walked downstairs, making sure to send Amethyst a text. Just as he reached the bottom, Archie calls out for Fred.

" Hey, Dad! First day of school and I’m already late --Hey Vegas!" He greets as he pets his dog on the head.

Fred Andrews is a great father, no doubt in Archie's mind that he would support him and Amethyst in their future despite the initial anger he will most definitely express.

" Hey -- you stopping by the site later?" Fred says as he walks into the room.

" Dad, it's my first day."
"We gotta get you going in the office -- so that next summer you're not on the crew." Archie rolls his eyes, and continues to pack for school.

"Well, I can’t. I’ve got football try-outs. Or is that not okay?"

"No, no it's uh -- it's okay. Good luck."

As Archie makes his way out the door he hears his father mumble a small "huh".

Next door in the Cooper Residence Amethyst and Betty were getting ready for school as well. Despite having her own room Amethyst liked getting ready with Betty. It was normal for them to gossip and catch up with each other. However this morning, Amethyst regretted walking into Betty's room, her mother was giving another one of her 'famous lectures'

"Betty, Amy, This coming year is critical for colleges. Grades are important, extra-curriculars -- athletics -- maintaining a decent character? Is hugely important, they do look at that."
Betty rolled her eyes as Amethyst simply kept quiet.
"Mom, we're sophomores."

"You’ve both accomplished so much, I just don’t want anything jeopardizing that. I mean, just think about your poor sister. She was such a shining star before she let that Blossom boy ruin her --"

" -- Mom, we're not Polly." At this Amethyst slowly began dreading having to give her parents the news and feared what would happen to her and her baby.

"You missed curfew last night." Alice continued, addressing only Betty at that moment.

"By seven minutes. And I was with Archie. Who has red hair, yes, but is nothing like Jason Blossom."

"Oh, sweetie. All boys are like Jason Blossom." At this Amethyst finally spoke up.
"Archie's different, he's not like Jason mom." She defended her boyfriend.
Alice grabbed her hand and Betty's.
"I love you both so much, Elizabeth, Amethyst. I just need you to be smart, okay? And stay focused. We refilled your Adderall, seems you both forgot to pick up your prescriptions."

With that, Alice smiles and goes.  Betty and Amethyst look at each other. They are both determined to remain focused and be smart.

RIVERDALE HIGH

Archie stood at his locker waiting for Amethyst. He had insisted on waiting for her and walking her to school but she declined and said she would walk with Betty. In the mean time he went over the lyrics they had worked on over the summer. However, stuffed said pages into his locker as he saw his buddy Reggie walking his way.
