(Back in normal POV)
I hold my mother, Amy, who I thought was dead for so long. I intensely cry into her shoulder as she soothingly rubs her hand in circles on the small of my back. Hiccuping, I eventually pull away from her, looking towards River. She smiles at me, then motions for me and my mother to sit down.
We do, and River begins to talk. "Emily, there is a lot you don't know, things that I feel would be important enough that you should be aware of. You mum is my mum, our timeline just got jacked up, so we keep seeing each other at the wrong times. That's why I'm older then her. So we would be sisters, if the circumstances were that simple. However, they are not. Something devastating is about to happen to time, and I'm afraid you will be the cause of it. I'm actually your mum. I had you and immediately brainwashed you, Amy, so you would think that she was your daughter.
Then I placed a cyberman in your house as your father, so Amy would leave you, Emily. And eventually, you kill the doctor in the future Emily, because it's what's supposed to happen to him. A fixed point in time, I'm afraid. I can't tell you why, but I need to make this happen in the future. None of this has actually happened to me yet, stupid timeline. I'm so, so sorry."
Amy stares in shock as I gape at my supposed mother. River? My mum? Amy stands up angrily. "Melody Pond! Why? My daughter is no danger to the doctor, and she certainly is my daughter, not yours." Her nostrils flare, and steam is practically coming out of her ears.
"I had to lie, and I'm terribly sorry for it. But Amy, mum, she is your granddaughter, not your child. And she will kill the doctor, in time. If she doesn't, well then time will be disrupted, will disintegrate like it never ever existed. The universe itself will collapse if she doesn't kill the doctor when she is supposed to. Because I was created to kill the doctor, remember Amy? And you, my only mum, you and the doctor convinced me to find a way around it. Missy was very upset, so she created Emily to make the choice: kill the doctor, or kill every living thing in the universe. The impossible choice. Missy is devious, I'm afraid, and doesn't give up." River sighs.
"Who. Is. Missy.?" Amy growls while I sit in bewilderment. River shakes her head. "I can't say. I'm sorry. See you later." And then River opens the doors of the tardis wide, which apparently she moved so it was flying over London, and she bounded out and dropped to the ground, where she looked like an ant. I scream, thinking she was dead, while Amy shakes her head and laughs, unamused. "She's okay, jumping off of stuff is her specialty." Amy shakes her head and sits back down, closing the doors of the tardis before doing so.
I look at the woman I had loved and believed all my life was my mum, and my eyes well up with tears. Quickly, I wipe them away, making sure not to shed anymore tears on my real mum's, River's, behalf. Amy stands up and pulls a few levers and pushes buttons, flying us back to where the doctor left us.
Once we've landed in the exact position we were left in, I get up from my chair and swing the doors open. "No!" Amy shouted, as I stepped outside into the hallway the doctor went on. Surprisingly fast, I close the doors and lock them with an all-sealing key, that could only be undone by me or the doctor. Then I turn back and begin to walk down the trail of misery to find the doctor.
I begin to ponder what River said as I walk, clutching my weapons that Amy had given back to me earlier. Kill the doctor? Me? She said it like I had no choice, since it was a fixed point, but there was something more. This Missy person created me to be the one who makes the choice. Either to kill the entire universe or to kill the doctor. And it's not time for this choice yet, but I obviously would choose to kill the doctor. Blowing up the universe would kill him anyway. I get to the end of what seemed like a never ending, twisting and turning hall. Two doors are slightly opened, and I can hear angry whispers of an argument inside.
I quietly go up to the door and press my back to the wall next to it, so I can hear them but they can't see me. "What do you mean Snow? How dare you say these awful lies!" The doctor growls, slamming his hands on the desk yet again. The man named Snow replies. "They are yet to be lies, I'm afraid. Actually, your daughter Emily is like a ticking time bomb. Eventually, she will go off. Make a choice she always was predicted to make. Either kill you or destroy time as we know it. And there are no loopholes this time for you doctor, no way to escape the inevitable." Snow shakes his head.
The doctor goes into thoughtful stunned silence, apparently trying to wrap his brain around what he had just been told. Snow continues. "We were trying to eliminate the threat, kill Emily so there was no choice, so the universe and you, doctor, would be safe. Because we need you! You are the key to every life form in the universe living! Without you, the universe itself would go into chaos. The humans on earth would be over run a thousand times over. The daleks would attack every planet like they did to galifray. Do you want that? Do you blame us for trying to kill the choice?!" Snow's voice comes out troubled, almost panicked.
I watch through the crack between the door and the wall as the doctor shakes his head. "Of course not." The doctor whispers. "But I won't let you kill Emily. If she is my daughter and River's as well, then there is no way I would let you. Even if she wasn't mine. She is a child, Snow! A little, smart, precious child, who deserves none of this to be thrust upon her. Her fate certainly shouldn't be decided like this! And I think if she learns any of this, if she ever finds out about this conversation, then she will be more willing to make a choice in a haste. Which is not what we want, is it? Wait until she has to make the choice, and let it be on her own, not because others were deciding it for her." The doctor gets up and brushes himself off.
Realizing he is about to leave and discover me hiding here, I begin to run as fast as I possibly can down the hall. I make a sharp turn on the nearest corner, then another. I dash as fast as I can down the halls, which turn at angels I don't remember from before. Actually, it's like they're magically moving in the direction. Panting, I run to the next turn.... And skid to a stop. It's a cross road of halls, 4 intersecting paths with me in the middle. I spin around, slowly looking in each direction, not knowing which way I came from or which is the right hall to go down.
At the end of each hall, a cloud of black smoke suddenly appears. Having nowhere to go, I scream in terror. The smoke disappears at each end, and the doctor appears at each end where the smoke was. Each one begins to talk exactly at the same time, making the same hand movements and faces.
"Okay, Emily, I'm so, so sorry about this. However, a problem has been developed. I-I can't tell you what it is. You just have to pick the right hall with the real me in it, and you will be fine. If you don't choose the right one - well, just don't make that mistake. I believe in you Emily, I promise you will be alright." He takes a deep breath, all four of him, and they all look directly at me.
His words I believe in you echo in my head. A tear stains my check as I brace myself, and close my eyes. All of the doctors look the same, but there has to be something different about them. I look closer at them. The first doctor in the hall directly in front of me opens his arms wide and welcoming, but so do the other doctors. They all are exactly the same.
My intuition tells me to go to my left, and then I remember why. The doctor told me once before that turning right was always a mistake, to always turn left. He said someone named Donna taught him that. I look to my left, terrified of the outcome of me going down the hall. Taking a deep breath, I begin my way down the hall. The path seems to stretch out, and it feels like forever as I walk towards the doctor at the end. Just as I near it, the doctor suddenly drops to the ground, convulsing and gasping for air. I run to him as his body arches up and foam comes out of his mouth, gurgling. And I freeze, not knowing what to do.
