Shoutout to _-Geronimo-_ for adding me to her reading list! Thank you!
I wake up back in the hospital, finding that all the tubes and machines and even wires are all gone. The look alike of the doctor is next to me in a chair, with the look alikes of Amy and River in the background. "You're coming home!" They cheer, clapping excitedly. I fake a smile, but then wonder what they will do to me at the house. If they are the opposite of the doctor and the others, then they must be evil. Nervous, I slowly get up and let them all hug me and drag me out into the car parked nearest to the hospital doors.
*
Once we get in the house, the woman, Amy, literally throws me onto the floor. I look up at her angry face, confused as ever. "You will clean this entire house while me and our parents are out. You thought you could escape us after the accident? Die and leave the pain? Well, you couldn't. If you don't have everything spotless by the time we are back, you will get the beating of a life time." She snarls. The fake River and the doctor walk out after Amy, leaving the house, smirking. I gulp, quickly scrambling to my feet.
I begin to clean the house, scrubbing dishes and doing laundry. I mop the floors, and I literally clean everything in the entire house. Sweating, I go to sit down. Then I realize with dread that there is one room that I never cleaned; Amy's room. I know it's hers because her name is painted on the outside. Terrified, I slowly open the door. Then I begin to cry.
The room is the messiest in the house by far, and will probably take hours to clean. Just as I begin to straighten it up, I hear my fake family pull up in the driveway. Whimpering, I close Amy's door and hope that she doesn't look there.
I stand nervously in front of the door. The devilish family walks in, looking around at the so-far-spotless house. They all smirk a little, and begin to look in each room for a mess. I hold my breath, dreading the moment where they find one. After a minute or so, I hear a shrill screech come from Amy's room. "EMILY!" I cringe as Amy storms out of there. She grabs me by my hair and drags me into the basement, which frankly, I didn't even know we had.
She let's go of my hair, and the darkness is interrupted when she turns on the lights. I'm surrounded with varying torturous tools, knives and belts and whips and even guns. Shackles are already around my feet and Amy chains my hands now, the chains hanging from the ceiling and holding me up.
She smirks and punches me in the face, right in my eye. I can't back up, can't move, totally defenseless. I wince in pain and make an effort not to scream or cry as she punches me in the stomach. After she punches me in different places several times, she smirks. "Time for the real beating." My eyes widen and I finally break down as she pulls out a belt. I beg for mercy, promising to do whatever she says from now on. She scowls. As it starts, my screams echo throughout the lonely basement, my cries louder then ever before.
*
After several more torturous beatings and some events with the evil doctor where I ended up nude, teary eyed, and violated in ways I should never be, it's finally over. Sore, they free me and hand me clothes. I put them on right in front of the smirking family, then trudge painfully up the shameful steps leading out of the basement make my way to the bathroom.
I look in the mirror and cringe slightly at what I see. One eye of mine is black and swollen, and blood trails from my split lip and the gash from a knife on my forehead. I lift my shirt slightly, looking at the bruises spotting my rib cage. My back is torn up from a belt, bloody and raw, and I bet I have some serious scars there. The worst part is, I can't even begin to explain some of the other pains I feel, emotionally and physically.
Before I left the basement, River gave me makeup to cover the injuries that might show, because I have to go a school tomorrow, which will probably be like hell. I leave the bathroom and go to my room that they gave me, which consists of nothing except for a bed and a dresser full of subtle outfits. I go to sleep, wanting nothing else but to die.
*
I wake up the next day to the nasty, yet husky yell of the evil doctor, telling me to wake up. I get up immediately, and watch as he leaves the room, muttering curse words under his breath. I get dressed in a plain gray, long sleeved shirt and long, baggy jeans. I brush out my hair and braid it, then apply makeup to cover my black eye and other such noticing injuries.
It's basically summer in this universe, this being the first day of school for everybody. However, River thoroughly explained that I was to never wear short sleeves or shorts, afraid of people seeing my bruises. Overall, I was depressed with life, and I would do whatever I had to do to stay out of trouble with this new family. Until my real family saves me.
Without breakfast, I'm sent to a school that looks more like a prison than anything else. I walk in, and immediately become the outcast. All conversations stop and all eyes look at me in disgust as I walk in the building. Horrible words are thrown my way as I make it to my assigned locker, and I open it hastily. Wanting to get out of sight as soon as possible, I shove my stuff in there and only bring the books needed for my first period class.
I close my locker door and go to scurry off to my class, when suddenly, I'm pressed against the lockers. "Hey babe, chill. Why you so nervous?" The high school senior pressing me against the lockers tries to touch me inappropriately and I can't fight it. He smirks and his friends witnessing snicker behind him.
"Leave. Her. Alone. She is mine."A husky voice rings out. The senior immediately drops me and takes a step back, raising his hands up. The person who stood up for me is about my age, which apparently is 15, since time travel screwed up my age. He has dark brown hair and light green eyes, which as of now swim with hatred. Actually, his serious face is terrifying and cold, emotionless and full of anger at the same time.
"Sorry," the senior mutters, and him and his friends scamper away.
The boy my age comes up to me, a crooked smile on his lips. "First day?" I nod shyly, picking up my books that I had dropped before. He holds out his hand to me, and I flinch, afraid. Realizing he wasn't trying to hurt me like everybody else and just wanted to shake my hand, I try to pretend it never happened. His confused face looks down at mine and I grasp his hand and shake it. "My names Carl," he says as we shake hands. I blush a little. "Mines Emily."
I let go of his hand and look into his mesmerizing eyes. He begins to talk. "That stupid senior was Nick, but don't worry about him and his pervert friends. I will protect you from him and everyone in the school. Trust me on that." Carl grins. I swallow noisily. "Why?" I ask in a whisper. He shakes his head with a laugh. "Because your beautiful, interesting, and defenseless. You need protecting if your going to go to school here. More importantly, you will need a friend like me. What do you say?" Shocked, I say a simple 'okay' in a tiny voice, unsure of how else to respond.
"C'mon, I checked your schedule when you dropped your papers and books, and we have the same classes. Lets go." We walk into first period, and luckily, the late bell didn't ring yet. I sit in the back of the class with Carl and watch as the other students pile into the room and sit in there seats. Everyone whispers in what they think are discrete voices about me and the fact that I'm sitting with Carl. Why is this guy so feared and respected?

Hey guys! So this chapter is a little long and kind of profound and violent. Sorry about that! It just was where the plot was taking me, and I guess it just sort of came out a little harsher then I assumed it would. However, I fit in a little romance between Emily and Carl!! <---There might be more of it in the future! Btw, thank you guys so much for getting me over 660 reads! I asked for 600, and this is just truly amazing! Can I have possibly 700? Just tell people to read it please! Thank you!
