chapter 14:colonization

I was slightly confused on why he was telling me this,but the dots began to connect in my head
H-his people,they where descendants of who ever where on this thing?

But with hardly anytime to think as we entered the "bridge" what ever that is
It was a very large space,similar to back in the greenhouse bit,but it was filled with weird glowing things

"Descendent,what is your name" the voice spoke,Andrew is nervous,I am too
"A-andrew" he said
There was a moment of silence
"Andrew,I am the alpha level artificial intelligence aboard this ship,I am here to guide and assist any and all descends of the colonization efforts,although it has been many many years my objective still stands" it said
Andrew was quiet,not sure what to say,what to do
How do you respond to something like this?
"Increased heart rate detected,I understand your scared Andrew,your people where living primitive lives for so long that hearing and seeing everything here must make you feel uneasy,but I assure you,I am here to help you as much as I can"
Andrew looked back at me,as if asking for help
Guess I'll be his voice
"U-um w-we wanted to ask some questions" I said
It went quiet again
"Life form,identify yourself"
I could feel my heart pounding
No wonder Andrew cant speak right now,this is terrifying
"M-my name is shadow,i-im Andrews friend"
Suddenly scary blue lines of light surrounded me
I panicked
"Scanning"
Andrews eyes where wide looking at the lights as the past through me
I was too scared to move,closing my eyes tightly as tears began to well up
I-im going to die!t-this things going to kill me!
"Scan complete,species registered"
I stood there,waiting for my death
B-but nothing
I opened one eye and looked around
Andrew looked relieved as he quickly hugged me
"A-are you okay?" He asked me worried
"I-i think so" I answered,inspecting myself for harm
"Increase heart rates,I something the matter?"
"W-what was that,w-why didn't it kill me?"
"It was a scan of you,to determine and document what you are and how you react,it is perfectly safe"
"Wish you had told me that beforehand..."
My legs where still shaking from the fright this gave me,I was also embarrassed a bit seeing as I...um...pissed myself

After awhile,and a clean up,we began to ask our questions
Like why they where here in the first place

"It has been over 400 sol years since the joint colonization efforts began,your ancestors had two missions when they came to this planet,find clues and colonize"
"Find clues?on what?"
"13 missing ships,that disappeared during the mars-earth war"
"W-war?"
"For 70 years tensions between earth and mars grew,until an unforseen event 17 martian mining vessels where destroyed by stray missiles from a earth firing test that had happened 3 days before,at the time we did not know this,we thought it was a preemptive strike on our people"
Andrew seemed concerned
"So...you started a war over it?"
"Yes,an estimated 8500 lives was lost from this accident,we could not ignore that or forgive the earthers"
.....
"So why come here?I understand the colonize part,but what made our place so important,and clues?here?"

It was silent for a moment
"We knew there was primitive life here,one of our objectives was to uplift them technologically"
