Okay so there is nothing else to say....chapter 10?
~*~~~~~*~~~~~
Mr. Evans handed us the homework. I just stared at it. All of the Latin we were learning was the basics. Nouns and such. Ironically I was the one excelling in the class, but it's only been a week. So much has already happened. My friends considered me one of their own. I felt free with them. I was happy.
The best part about this whole week was that I was normal for the first time in Boston. Dad and Tammy were surprised that I didn't run off anywhere. Aria and Johnny were still hanging out with their friends, but they introduced me to them. Life in Boston was finally becoming perfect. I loved it here. Sure it was a little bit colder, but after a while one got used to it.
The only reason it was happier was because I saw Hope, and she spoke to me. I knew she would come back. That gave me something to look forward to. Everyday, I'd show up with a smile like she told me to do. There was no need to pretend anymore. I truly was content. It was all complete now. Hope, me, and my friends. Nothing could ruin my feeling now. Not even the homework.
With five minutes left in class, I put the answers to paper. It wasn't that hard. Latin was easier than I thought it would be. When the bell rang, I stuffed my binder into my backpack and waited until everyone got out of my aisle. Slowly, I got up and out of my seat, smiling that the two were waiting for me. I was stopped by one person.
Mr. Evans blocked my path. "Could you stay for a moment Faith?"
Brooke smiled, "It's fine. We'll wait for you outside okay?"
I nodded, and the slipped out the door. Mr. Evans smiled, but the air made me feel a little scared. He was a nice guy and funny too. Something about him made me a tiny bit uncomfortable though. Maybe it was the suspicious stare he gave me. Maybe it was because he always talked to me about Latin or anything really.
"So," he began. "Are you still thinking to change your classes?"
I shook my head, "No. Latin is fun. I mean, it's really easy for me to learn. I'm going to have to learn a language anyway. Why not start now?"
He smiled and chuckled, "Good. It's nice that you want to study this language. Not most people do considering that it's pretty much dead. Really, why are you here? I mean, you don't look like the type of person who would devote their time to this."
He circled me and leaned back on his desk. I shrugged, "I have no idea why I'm here. I was put here randomly."
Mr. Evans was frowning now, "Is that the only reason?"
I shook my head, and he kept on talking, "You know events happen for a reason. You just need to know why you were put here. When you find out, that's your reason you were put here. You can go now Faith."
I recollected myself and walked out the door. That was weird. Sure, things happened for a reason. That's what I believed in, but Mr. Evans was pushing it into a whole new level. He was creeping me out. Teachers. They call me in, and all I get is a pep talk that makes no sense. I could put that behind me. It was lunch-the perfect time to unwind and relax.
Liam and Brooke were still outside waiting. For a while it was silent. There was worry written all over Liam's face. Brooke was biting her lip. Did they hear the conversation? If they did, why were they so worried? It wasn't a bad thing. I wasn't going to be in big trouble. Liam sighed and ran his hand over his face. Brooke moved toward him and whispered something in his ear. He nodded and walked a little faster.
Brooke gave me a hug and started to follow him. When they reached other, they ran for the courtyard. They moved fast. Really fast. It was like the strong wind didn't affect them. They sliced through it. I ran for them, but I just wasn't fast enough. When they jumped down the stairs, I swear I saw a flash of white wings. As they hit the bottom, the wings were gone. What the heck?
