This chapter is pretty short, but it's fine. Two posts in a day. See. It's a short chapter. Anyways, the What's Hot list is starting to bug me. It's pressuring me to post every few days to keep on it, but then I don't like being pressured. On the other hand, I've been on it for a week and two days. I feel accomplished. :) I might get off of the list though. :( Well, it don't mean much. Oh, oops. I forgot. here you go. I couldn't let you hang there. :D

My eyes widened as my hands slipped off the handle. Zachariah caught me when I fell backward, pain surging up my body like an electric shock. His hands brushed through my hair while the other caressed my cheek. I couldn't stop feeling the pain. The blow of the sword hitting skin. The energy passing through me so quickly.

I wanted this to go away. To be lost forever and destroyed in secrecy. The fallen angel kept me in his arms as Cairo's army froze watching the scene. Watching the body die. Watching the surprise. It was over, and finally I could rest in peace. It would be a safe place from now on. A haven. A Heaven, if you will.

Isaiah and Vince pushed at the crowd to get at us—Cairo, Zachariah, and I. Vince gave me a worried look. Isaiah froze. Had I done a good thing? Did I make everyone proud and happy? The pain throbbed near my heart or at my heart. I groaned and pulled myself closer to my daddy. He fixed himself to let me in. I slid my wings in quickly as he hugged me.

It was so warm with him holding me. It was like mom's and Hope's hugs. It was like Vince's kiss. Vince and Isaiah stood behind us, keeping us safe from the guards who tried to charge at us. I decided just to take care of it all. I murmured earth, air, fire, and water in Latin. They all followed me. The air blew every guard to the wall. The earth engulfed some. The water in the air created fog. Fire from the torches blazed brighter and hotter, starting to eat the setting and burning the people.

They were all gone from us now. Lucas and Trent weren't affected. They made their way to us and stood around Cairo. I moaned and rubbed my arms which were now hurting. Why did it feel so bad?

Around us, the fire was starting to spread. We needed to get out. Now. Soon the fire would eat everything including us, but I could move. My legs were numb. Heck, my whole body was numb. It stung to move. The slightest twitch sent electricity through my body.

Vince and Isaiah served as a wall in front of us, protecting Zachariah and I from the other two demonics. I couldn't feel anything. I couldn't hear easily. It was difficult to breathe. It became hard to see.

Dad put his head on my and hummed me a song to ease the torture. I grimaced again and whimpered, “Why does it hurt so much?”

He replied softly, “Cairo has dark energy. You connected to him with the sword you used and sent you this pain when you...”

“Killed him,” I asked.

He nodded, “Yes. When you killed him.”

“Does it go away?”

He nodded. “Yes. Soon, it'll be gone. It's just from the shock.”

“It feels like I'm dying dad.” I sounded like a little kid, but I didn't care.

“You aren't Faith. You'll be fine. You won't die.”

I saw tears in his eyes now. “Dad? Are you okay?”

That's when I looked down to see the blood on my shirt. A knife—a pocket knife—was lodged in my chest. Oh. Cairo mush have thrown it at me when I lunged at him. That's why I felt this pain. But at least, Cairo wouldn't ruin the world. A life for a life was different for me. I learned that I had to put others first. It can't always be about me.
