Yana.
"I want to know you better," he said while looking straight at me.
Okay, Yana. I know that he has a charming smile that makes butterflies flutter in your stomach but you need to calm down!
"Waeyo?" I barely asked him in return. Nakakailan na 'tong si Seol Geun, ah. He surely knows how to make my face turn red. It's embarassing.
"I find you really interesting," he said. And I want to think that he's joking pero hindi eh, ang seryoso ng mukha niya.
No one really complimented me as someone interesting before. Majority sa kanila ang tingin sa akin, boring.
"Well then," panimula ko. "My life is not really as interesting as you think it was. I am from the Philippines and I study there. I spend most of my time being alone like watching movies, reading books, going out, but that doesn't really bother me. You see? I'm a boring person," he frowned upon me mentioning that part. And then I added, "I wanted to come here to South Korea as a gift for my 18th birthday. And finally, here I am!"
The frown that he had a while ago transformed into a smile. "Hey, doing things alone doesn't make you a boring person."
Napataas yung isang kilay ko sa sinabi niya. "You think so?"
He only nodded.
He has a point. Sa totoo lang, it never bothered me kung gagawin ko yung mga gusto kong gawin ng mag-isa lang. Ang saya kaya minsan. Ang stress-free din since I consider it as my "me" time. It's therapeutic.
This time, I grabbed the opportunity para siya naman tanungin ko. Hey, I wouldn't waste this chance para makilala din siya ng husto. We've been together for the whole day pero pangalan niya at iilang impormasyon lang from my observations ang alam ko.
I would love it also if he tells me something about himself.
"Your turn," I said. "Share something about yourself."
From his reactions, mukhang hinihintay din niya na tanungin ko siya so when I did, he didn't look surprised at all.
Now to think of it, it's crazy kung paanong kinikilala namin ang isa't isa ngayon sa mismong gitna ng Han River. What a great place to know each other.
"I just came here to Seoul a year ago," he started.
Nanlaki yung mga mata ko. "Jinjja?" Really?
"Yes. I grew up in the States. Due to some important matters, I transferred to Seoul last year and had to live here," he explained.
"So. . . you came to Seoul together witth your family?"
Nagulat ako nang umiling siya. "Aniyo, I went here alone."
Oh.
So maybe that explains the fact that he's fluent in English and his accent is really good too. Akala ko dito talaga siya lumaki, hindi pala. Feeling ko tuloy medyo naging special ako dahil sa nalaman ko.
Ang pinagtataka ko lang, what is that important matter that he had to go to Seoul? At bakit hindi niya kasama yung pamilya niya? Bakit kailangang siya lang?
Ah! I also remembered!
Noong nasa Namsan kami kanina, I asked him kung bakit pumayag siya na samahan akong maglibot buong araw and he mentioned that he just wants to be free even just for a day. Masyado daw kasi siyang stressed recently.
