"Thank you for letting us stay the night, Frank," Linda told him the next morning.
"You're welcome. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to ask. You're family, too."
She smiled a little, "thank you." They hugged before she and Danny and the kids walked to the car. The car ride was quite, everyone still shocked that Linda was alive.
Danny parked the car, and the kids went straight for their rooms, wanting to gather their school things before the bus came. Danny watched his wife, who remained seated.
"Um... this- this is it. The new house."
"It's cute."
"Yeah."
"I'm glad that it's still in Staten Island."
"Yeah, that's nice.... you wanna go in?"
Linda nodded, "Mhmm." She got out of the car, and walked up to the house.
Danny came up behind her, wondering why she had stopped at the threshold. He picked her up bridal style, and carried her across the entryway.
Linda smiled a little bit when her feet hit the ground. "You carried me across the threshold?"
"The groom always carries the bride across the threshold. I'm the groom, and I'm so glad you're still my bride."
She blushed a little when Danny pecked her lips.
"Come on, let's go upstairs." He clasped her hand, leading her up the stairs.
The master bedroom was a little smaller than the last house's, but it was cute and cozy. Linda inhaled the faint smell of the perfume she liked. "How come it smells like me?"
Ducking his head, Danny answered, "I, um, I went out and bought the perfume you like. And, uh, sprayed it around the house."
Linda sat on the bed, "oh, Danny, that's so sweet."
He sat next to her, "I'm so glad you're here. I was lost without you."
"I was lost, too." She closed her eyes and sighed, "so you're not... not gonna leave?"
"Leave? Why on earth would I leave? I love you."
"How? How can you love somebody who's been scarred? Who's been violated? Who's as ugly and disgusting as me?"
"Because you're not ugly or disgusting. You're scarred, but so am I. And you haven't left me. I can't change that you were violated, but I still love you. No matter what. And we're gonna get through this. Like we always do."
"How can you be so sure?" Linda wondered weakly.
"Because we're Reagans. We're stubborn, hard nosed jackasses with an ego-complex."
"She didn't mean that, you know," Linda chuckled. Her sister had told her that, right in front of Danny's face. His response was along the lines of, 'maybe. But we get things accomplished. What have you done recently?'. And that started the war between Danny Reagan and Wendy O'Shea.
"Oh, yes, she did mean that. But soon, you'll get better."
"But I'm not a Reagan by blood. I only married one."
"Only? Linda, you are more Reagan than O'Shea. You're not afraid to say exactly what's on your mind, and that's more Reagan than O'Shea." Danny put his arm around her and kissed her cheek, praying he was right.
