"Whoa!" Baez was surprised to see Danny with his hands up and Linda holding her nightstick. "What's going on?"
"Linda's snapped." Danny said. "She thinks I'm trying to moleste her." He explained, "the kidnappers raped her, but they used a rape kit. Meaning they've done all this before."
"Okay," Baez nodded and held her palms up for Linda, "Linda, listen, neither of us want to hurt you. We're your friends—"
"That's what they said! Right before they hurt me like that!" Linda gripped the stick harder.
"Rephrase," Danny started, "Linda, think back. Six months ago. May 27th. Remember?" He smiled a little as Linda's shoulders relaxed. "Who was holding you against that wall?"
Baez raised an eyebrow and looked at her partner. His ears were red, but he needed to do this.
"You." The blonde answered, not sure where the conversation was going.
"Right." He took a step closer, "and whose name came tumbling from your beautiful lips?"
"Danny's." Linda lowered the nightstick.
"Right," He took a few more steps closer. "And who's Danny?"
"My husband." She relaxed, holding the nightstick in one hand.
"And where is he?" Baez interjected, taking a step closer also.
"Right there." The blonde pointed to the male detective.
"In all the years of knowing your husband, me, have I ever forced you to have sex?" Danny was three steps away from his wife.
"No."
"So why would I start?"
"You wouldn't."
"Give me the weapon?"
Linda handed it to Danny, who gave it to Baez. "I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize, Linda. You went through a lot." Baez decided she better hide any weapon type thing. "Nobody's blaming you for being scared."
"Are you okay now? Can I hug you?" Danny had only had to ask to hug her a few times, but he needed to make sure she was comfortable.
"Please." Linda held out her arms and hugged her husband as tightly as he hugged her.
"Linda? Do you want anything specific for dinner?" Baez wondered, hoping she had enough to feed all of them.
Linda shrugged, "whatever's easy."
"Well, easy would be sticking a frozen pizza in the oven."
"So do that. I like pizza."
"Let's just hope I have enough for two mouths and Danny." Baez smirked along with Linda.
"Hey." Danny pretended to sound offended.
"She's right, Danny," Linda took his hand and wiped her tears as they followed Baez to the kitchen. "You do eat a lot."
"At least I'm into carrots at the moment." He argued.
"That's true."
"You like spinach pizza, Bugs?" Baez smiled at Danny.
"He'll eat anything," Linda answered for her husband. "Sorry I went..." she made some weird hand motions, "wacko on you."
"Linda," Danny looked over Baez's shoulder as she put the pizza on the pan. "Don't apologize. You are gonna add more cheese, right? And mushrooms?"
"Uh, if you want." The Latino shrugged. "Linda, do you mind grabbing them? They're in the fridge."
"Sure." She opened the fridge, mumbling about the cheese. "Ooh, wine." She took the bottle out. "My favorite kind. Montepulciano."
"You pronounced that very well." Baez smiled as she put the extra cheese and mushrooms on the pizza.
"Linda's Italian." Danny boasted, putting an arm around her shoulders.
"How fitting for this to be a 'pizza wine'." Linda smiled and put the bottle down on the counter.
"Linda, do you like wine?" Baez stuck the pizza in the oven with a sly smile.
"Yes."
