Linda frowned as she was still turning over the thought of staying in a hospital somewhere in Jersey. She understood all her symptoms, wondering how exactly she survived. She was given water and a piece of bread to last a week. She looked at the IV in her arm, frowning as the nutrients flowed into her arm.
"Hey."
Linda smiled widely when Danny walked in. "Hi." She scooted, making room for her husband. "You're a sight for sore eyes."
Danny smiled as he settled next to her. He sighed, "you're alive."
"I feel dead.... I am so sorry. I didn't—" she was cut off by Danny's lips on hers. She closed her eyes contentedly, opening her mouth a bit for her husband's always-wanting tongue.
Danny kissed her like he hadn't seen her in years. He shifted his weight, pressing her into the mattress. He needed to feel her, to know he wasn't dreaming, to know she was okay. His lips moved to her neck, sucking on her pulse point.
Linda started crying when Danny kissed her wantingly. She bit her lip while his lips trailed her neck. "Danny..."
He sucked on another part of her neck, getting harder with each suck.
"Danny." Linda tried to get his attention. "Danny!"
"What?" He saw the tears on her cheeks, "I didn't hurt you, did I?"
"No." She shook her head.
"Why are you crying?"
"Why? I was locked in a closet for six months. You thought I was dead. I can't imagine what I put you through." She hung her head in shame.
"It wasn't your fault. You did nothing wrong." Danny rubbed her upper arm. "I'm still thinking this is a dream, but you're here. You're alive. That's all that matters." He didn't realize his tears were falling, too. "And I'm gonna do whatever it takes to make you happy. And I'm gonna do everything in my power to make sure this doesn't happen again. Gee.... I thought I lost you, Linda. I'm never gonna let you out of my sight again." He pulled her into a hug, not caring his tears were falling as fast as his wife's. She was alive, and that was all that mattered to him.
"That's gonna get really annoying." Linda half-joked.
Danny laughed a little and kissed her cheek. "I love you."
"I love you more."
"I love you the most." He hugged her tightly, never wanting to let go.
Linda sniffed, "what will we tell the family?"
"I don't know. We'll figure it out. I promise."
She nodded against him, "Danny?"
"Yeah, babe?"
"I knew you'd come for me. I just knew you would."
"I could never leave you behind. Never." He kissed her cheek, tightening his embrace.
"Danny?"
"What?"
"You're crushing me."
"Oh. Sorry. How's that?" He loosened his grip a little bit.
"Better...." she pulled back as a thought slammed into the front of her brain. "The kids."
"What about the kids?"
"Where will they go? I'm staying here over night, and you are, too. What do you tell them? What will the think?"
"Whoa, whoa, slow down. I'll tell them I'm pulling an all nighter, and send 'em to Pops'. Who do you want to tell about the situation? Pops or Dad?"
Linda though for a moment, "Frank. He has a good poker face and is an excellent secret keeper."
Danny nodded, hugging his wife again. He said another prayer of thanks, part of him still thinking this was a dream.
