"She's going to have her party tomorrow and that's my final decision. Go make sure her cake's ready." Samarth replied proving adamant.

"I can consider Dawn, she knows nothing, but you Sam, you've seen everything and still letting emotions cloud your judgement. A party tomorrow is going to be an excuse for Pedro to make his move. And don't give me that bullshit about secure surveillance at the party tomorrow, this same thing happened a few years back, the reason your father is no longer with us." she explained to him.

"Dawn's upset Sneha, we've always avoided a birthday for her, she's turning sixteen tomorrow, remember years ago when you too cherished your sixteenth birthday saying it's a very special birthday to girls,"

Sneha knew that she wasn't going to be able to win this argument against her husband.

"If that's what you think, then there'll be a party but it will only be just us, no one else. I'll get the cake." He pecked her forehead before hugging her tight.

"I always wonder what I would do without you. You look after us so well,"

"that's because I won't be able to survive without you two." she said hugging him tight, feeling strange from within, like the atmosphere wasn't right. But for the sake of her husband and daughter, she brushed it off.

I just hope it all goes well tomorrow. She prayed within her.

"Babe, I'm just going to go to the bakery to get her cake, it's just a few blocks from here,"

"take a guard with you, " he called out from the shower.

"it's a walk from here Sam, I don't need a guard, I'll be fine." she said picking her purse and rushing out before her husband could object. She got into her car searching for her keys in her purse before she eventually found it. She started the engine of the car, letting it run for a few minutes before she drove out.

She parked her car outside the bakery, locked her car and walked in. The bakery was strangely empty, very unusual to her because especially on a weekend, it was always busy. There was no one to attend to her, the entire place was dry of customers and shop attendants, even the baker himself was nowhere to be found. The windows were still shut. Sensing that something odd was going on, she reached into her purse, holding on to the gun, she walked slowly into the inner room, pulling out her gun, and carefully walking in.

"hello... hello... Mr. Fredrick? Svetlana? Anyone here? " she heard creaks, light footsteps and before her senses could respond and her adrenaline could take charge, a hand grabbed her tight from behind, covering her nose with a handkerchief with tetrachloroethane, she tried to scream and struggled to set herself free, but the substance she inhaled knocked her out of consciousness. She fell into her attacker's arm and he carried her over his shoulders , threw her into a sack and bundled her into the boot of his car and speeding away from the crime scene.

BACK AT THE PARTY

It had been up to forty-five minutes since she left for the cake. Dawn was all dressed up in a pink ball gown, shoes and a tiara to match patiently waiting for her mom so she could apologize for her actions the previous day. The maids served an all you can eat buffet and the entire mansion was buzzing with activities of servants running up and down, setting everything in place for the big anticipated sixteenth birthday.

What was once forty-five mntes soon turned to an hour, then two hours, three hours, four hours until all hopes had begun to drop, and anxiety began to set in.

"mom's not back yet. I wonder what's delaying her," Dawn said with worry.

"relax princess, I will call her again. Her father said as he tried to call his wife again.
