Warning bells / False alarm ?

The trouble with getting a peace of mind. Is that sometimes... something interrupts it. Or an person spoils it with their actions that are deemed unnecessary.

Shayla's pov ~

I needed to get away but not too far because after some much needed careful thinking. I just wanted to go out for an stroll to get some fresh air from the compound. At least that is what it started to feel like with the close quarters. And the always being watched thing.

I took my chance, slipped out unnoticed. I just wanted time to myself. I was tired of the stares, the whispering behind my back. Like I'm not even there sometimes.

There was some good people but they were all busy to take notice of me. Plus I feel that I'm not being told the whole truth about why I'm really here. I was told a great deal of things that most wouldn't or couldn't believe.

I've tried my best to not let the situation that I'm in get to me. But it has gotten to a point that I needed to get away. So that's why I'm walking down the street. And  I didn't know where I would go. And I also didn't want to leave Ji Soo. Hopefully he'd understand.

After walking until I couldn't walk anymore. I came up on a small pony keg, went inside to buy some water. I stepped inside, the air conditioning gave little comfort to my sweaty skin.

I went farther in, finding the aisle where the sodas, bottle water were. I opened one of the doors that held the frosty drinks. I held it open, let my face and front of my body remain there as the cooler air formed a fine mist over my skin. I stood there for a couple seconds then grabbed a bottle of water. Closing it I then made to the front of the store.

I came to the counter where the cashier stood. He gave me a look up and down then gave a creepy smile. That's when I knew...

He was a pervert.

" How much is this ? " I asked placing the water bottle on the counter in front the disgusting guy.

" $ 1.25 or free if you let me feel that ass of yours, " he smirked.

The fuck was he saying in the middle day in a store with costumers about. He couldn't be serious. What the hell was wrong with the world ? So I dug into my pocket, pulled out change slapping it on the counter. Grabbing the bottle, I quickly made my way out of the store.

Outside now, still haven't found a place to go. I saw that was a park across the street. I went to the crosswalk, crossed the street.

As I walked around seeing all the people scattered throughout the park. Kids playing on swings, some on the monkey bars. Two old men playing chess game on one of the built in stone chess slabs. All seemed to be normal, just a really normal day. Despite what I knew could be lurking out there.

I saw an bench, decided to take a seat. I opened my water, took a sip. Then the wind started to pick up. I then got this odd feeling like I was being watched. My throat was dry so I took a long drink of water, placed the cap back on it.

Suddenly I felt this creepy feeling like something was behind me. I looked back, nothing was there. Then I knew that sitting here, leaving was bad idea. So I got up, made my way out of the park. I sped walked down the street in the direction I came from that would lead me back to the compound. Where I knew for sure I would be safe.

I was halfway there when I bumped into someone. It was this medium built Hispanic guy. He stood in front of me, pulled me to the side, out of the way of something.

" What are you doing outside like this ? I can't believe someone would leave you alone like that. You have the power, if evil presences itself. ( We all are in deep shit ), "  he exclaimed with the last part in Spanish.

So he grabbed me by the arm, lead me away in the direction of the Day Dream setters compound.

" Who are you ? And let go of me ! " I yelled trying to break free of his hold.

" I'm Miguel. And I just saved your life. ( Thank you very much ) "  he told, keep his hold on me until we made it around the corner to see the building that served as DDS Headquarters.

I rubbed my wrists, followed behind him, looking behind me also. He said he'd saved my life. But I didn't even see anything.

But I knew I felt something.

We made it to the front entrance. People were standing around with tense looks on their faces. Until someone spotted me. It was Ji soo's friend Jun, he came running up to me.

" Where have you been ? We all have been searching for you, " he said looking relieved.

Then Ji Soo's sister stepped out of the open door.

" She's here everyone ! We can called off the search ! " she shouted for everyone to hear.

Not even a second later Ji Soo was flying out the door, sped over to me. Looking me over, checking for god knows what.

" How could you leave without telling anyone ? I was worried sick about you, " he spoke then taking me into his arms, hugging me tightly.

" I just needed some fresh air, alone time. It wasn't a big deal. I'm fine. Okay, " I stepped out of his hold assuring him that I was alright.

" You weren't Reckons were sent out to observe you. Maybe to implant you with a seed to do their bidding, " Miguel spoke up to let everyone know.

And gulped as I realized the severity of what could've happened by looks on everyone's faces.

Things to know about this chapter -

Reckons - low level spirits to observe or to implant seeds in an unsuspecting individual. It can cause harm later on.

The words in parentheses is when Miguel speak Spanish. Are when any other person speaks in a different language.
