You walked out the door of your loft and got in your car and drove towards the venue.
AT THE VENUE
You got out the car and looked around. "Goodness, its like prom all over again." You mumbled walking towards the entrance. You looked around and saw the birthday girl. "Happy birthday!" You yelled hugging her. "Thank you. Geez, you look like a whole snack. Shit, I'm hungry." She complimented. You laughed. "Thanks, babe. You looked gorgeous tonight." You said. She was gonna reply but got taken away by her party planner. You walked towards the bar. "Rum and coke." You ordered and he began working on it. "I'll have the same. " A man behind you said. And the bartender worked on the drinks.
"Kevin." He said and spun around to see a refreshingly handsome man. "Y/n." You said Shaking his hand.
"So you know Selena?" He asked. "Yeah, we been like best friends for years. How do you know her?" You asked.
"Um, we met at a party awhile back and we've been friends since." He said as the bartender set fresh drinks in front of us. You nodded to let him know you understood as you sipped your drink.
It was a comfortable silence between the 2 of you as you listened to the music but then suddenly it was a slow song.
"Would you like to dance?" Kevin asked you.
"Um, sure." You said being led to the dance floor by Kevin. You both being to sway. You looked over at your friend and she was smirking. She set this up.
You looked up to learn his eyes had been trained on you the whole time. You cleared your throat and pulled away. "I have to go." You said hastily walking away. "Why?" He asked. You took of your heels and ran to your car and drove off.
FEW DAYS LATER
You were in the bakery you owned making a fresh batch of doughnut dough.
*ding* "One second please." You yelled to the customer. You covered the dough and ran to the front to only be met by Kevin and Selena.
"What do you want?" You asked exasperated. "We just want doughnuts and coffee and this is the best place in all of Cali." She said trying to make you smile. "Mmhm yeah. I assume this is to go?" You asked. "No, were sitting in." Kevin said staring into your soul.
They went on to choose there donuts and coffee. You were finishing the last batch of donuts.
"You should really give him a chance. He's really sweet." Your friend said behind you. You sighed. "Yeah, he seemed great when I met him but I'm not looking for hurt again. I'm good." You said taking off your apron. You walked to the front of the store to change the sign to 'closed'.
"I'm willing to bet our friendship." She shouted and you turned to look at her.
She continued. "If you kiss him and don't feel anything. You don't have to talk to me, deal with me or anything like that for the rest of your days." She said huffing a bit.
"Fine." You said walking up to Kevin with a beating heart and kissed him. You in all of your 24 years on earth had never encountered this feeling before and you cant say you didn't like it. You pulled away looking at him kind of disappointed you ended the kiss.
"You felt something, didn't you?" He asked quietly. You nodded. "When I kissed you I saw my future flashed before my eyes and let me say, I've never saw anything so bright."
