Chapter 6: The Cookout

Amy's POV

A week had passed and it was the day of the cookout. I was so excited to see everyone gathered together again and we all could catch up and have fun. I took a shower and when I got out the shower I got a phone call from Rouge. I answered it. "Hello?"

"Hello darling, ready for the cookout today?" Rouge asked.

"I'm ready for it... so did Shadow agree to come?" I asked curiously.

"Yeah, he's coming but it took a lot to convince him." Rouge said.

"Well I'm glad he can make it." I said.

"Is there anything I could help you with the cookout?" I asked.

"Actually it is something you can help me with. Come grocery shopping with me and hurry over. We have no time to lose." Rouge said and then she hung up. I went to brush my quills and find something to wear. I chose to wear a pink dress with white shoes. I grabbed my purse and left to Rouge's house.

I finally reached Rouge's house. Rouge was in her backyard decorating. It was nice. She had some beautiful tiki torches already set up.

"I'm here Rouge." I said as she turned around.

"You nearly scared me to death Amy." She said as I laughed.

"Sorry Rouge." I said.

"It's fine now come on to the store." She said as she pulled me along with her.

We reached the store and I grabbed a cart. I followed Rouge and we were in the alcohol section. I rolled my eyes when Rouge asked me what drinks we should get. "Get both, the more the better." I said as I started laughing. Soon we were in the food section. Rouge and I grabbed all the food that was needed for the cookout. Soon enough we grabbed everything and payed for it. We got back to Rouge's house and got the food set out on the kitchen counter. "You better get back home and change, its almost time for the cookout." Rouge said. "Alright see you in an hour." I said and waved goodbye.

I got back home and I changed into the outfit I bought last week. I looked at myself in the mirror and admired myself. I even took a picture. I went back over to Rouge's place. I went in the backyard where Rouge was. I saw Knuckles coming out from her house. "Knuckles!" I said as I ran up to him and gave him a hug. "Amy?" He said then returned the hug. "I thought Rouge was lying when she said you would be here." He said as he let go. "No, she was right." I said. "So you're calling me a liar knucklehead?" Rouge said with a sound of irritation. Knuckles rubbed the back of his neck embarrassed. I laughed at his reaction. "I missed teasing you knucklehead." Rouge said still teasing him. "Alright I think that's enough for now Rouge." I said. Knuckles went over to the grill and started to clean it. I pulled Rouge aside and asked her did she still like Knuckles. "Why would you say that darling?" She asked. "You know why." I said with a chuckle.

"Hey guys." I hear Silver and Blaze say in unison. I look at their hands and fingers laced together. "Awe how cute." Rouge says as Silver and Blaze separated their hands from each other. "Rouge!" I said as I started to laugh. "What?" Rouge said. "Anyway.. it is nice to see you again Amy. I'll leave you girls to it." Silver said as he headed towards Knuckles and greeted him.

Soon more and more guests were coming in. I've seen everyone but Sonic and Shadow. 'I wonder where Shadow is.' I thought to myself. Soon I see Sonic and Sally walk in together. My eyes felt sad. "Miss Amy don't worry about them." Cream said. "Yeah I'm with Cream, if they don't mess with you don't speak to them." Blaze said. "Yeah you're right." I said as I went back to being myself. Sonic and Sally walked passed me without noticing me. I'm kind of glad they didn't notice me. "Hey Knucklehead you better make some delicious chili dogs." Sonic said. "Make sure they're at least OKAY Knuckles." Sally said. Knuckles rolled his eyes and started to cook. Now all I was wondering was where was Shadow at.
