The procedure

I get out of the chair in my exam room and follow her to another room. "Okay, now can you sit and lay down on this chair please Kimberly?" she asks kindly. The chair in the room was the same but the room was much more different as it was like a hospital emergency room. Karlie just rolled over a stool and sat down on it. Then, Taylor, my sister's best friend walks into the room. "Hi, Karlie, Hi Kim," Taylor says. "Oh hi, Tay," Karlie replied. 

"Are you a little bit nervous Kimberly? Taylor asks. "Yes kind of," I say. "It's okay Kimberly if you feel a little bit nervous, but Karlie won't hurt you a single bit," Taylor says. "Okay Kim, I'm going to start by giving you some nitrous oxide as it makes you go into a sleepy state and you will also not feel anything. Open wide Kim," Karlie says. I open my mouth just as she puts the nitrous oxide mask on my face. She uses her gloved fingers to wedge a mouth block to keep my mouth open.

As soon as she takes her fingers out of my mouth I fell fast asleep. I didn't feel anything for some time. I could hear noises in the background while I was asleep. I heard the constant noise of the drill and my teeth getting extracted.

I soon wake up about 5 minutes after my procedure has finished. I open my eyes to see Karlie sitting on a stool with a clipboard and pen. "Ah Kim, you have woken up. How do you feel?" She asks. I shrug my shoulders in response as I couldn't feel much in my mouth. Suddenly I didn't know why but my emotions overcame me as my eyes started flooding down tears. "Oh it's okay Kimberly don't cry," She says as she rolled her stool over towards me and patted my face pushing the hair out of my face. 

"Sorry I don't know why I started crying something must have come over me," I say. "Okay Kimberly, you're extraction has been completed. Taylor went up to the desk to get you some pain medicine. I'm just going to take a quick look at the areas your wisdom teeth were at. Okay, open wide. I'm just going to use a flashlight and my mirror to see the areas." Karlie states as she's getting on gloves.

"Okay, open wide Kim," Karlie says as she goes through my mouth with her mirror and flashlight. "Most of the areas your wisdom teeth were in have partially healed and you should be fine, although I want to come back tomorrow for a proper cleaning incase of cavities or abscesses," Karlie says. 

Karlie walks me to her lounge room where she asks me if I want to take a nap if I want to wait for her to finish her work. "Kim, you can take a nap here for an hour, alright? I'm just going to finish off some paperwork and then we can go," Karlie says. I decided to stay and sleep in her lounge room for an hour.
