I leave the lounge room when I get out I see it is at least 7 pm. I decided to wait for my sister since we live in the same house. I see Taylor at the front desk and I ask her for some painkillers and she gives it to me. "I hope you will get better Kimberly," Taylor says with a smile on her face. "I have to come back here tomorrow for a cleaning Karlie said. So see you tomorrow perhaps," I say.
I wait 10 minutes for my sister to drive me home as I am a bit hungover from the anaesthesia. I fall asleep on our car journey home, but I wake up when we arrive at our house. When we get inside, I go straight to my room and get ready for bed. In the bathroom, I wash my face, brush my teeth and have one of my pain meds I'm supposed to have. Next day, I've woken up still in pain from the extraction. I try to sleep in some more then start walking to Karlie's office later.
I start to walk to Karlie's practice, I arrive there no later than 20 minutes at least since her practice is just a walk down the street but it is quite a few blocks down the street. I walk into the practice seeing Taylor at the front desk energetic to see me. "Hi, Kimberly. How's your sleep? How's your mouth now? She asks. "It's alright, no better than usual," I say. "Okay, that's fine Karlie is waiting for you at the back," Taylor says.
I walk into the furthest exam room to see Karlie with her tools prepped and ready. "Hi Kimberly, are you ready for your cleaning?" She asks. "I guess," I say nervously. "It's okay if you feel a bit nervous, but tend onto that fear or else it will feel worse than just scary, you will feel a bit of guilt as well. Enough chatting, come sit down and lay back." She says as she is getting a pair of gloves and mask on.
I sit down on the chair for it to only lean backwards. I decided to listen to Karlie's advice and let go of my fear of the dentist, by relaxing my shoulders and relaxing my mouth. "Okay, open wide Kim," Karlie says.
"Okay, the back area is still a little bit swollen but not too much. Let's start your cleaning. Firstly I'm gonna use this tool it's an ultrasonic scaler, it will remove any plaque build-up on your teeth. You might feel a little bit of pain but not too much, hopefully," Karlie says.
"It's okay Kim, relax. There's nothing to be worried about." Karlie says. I love my sister. She is just so gentle with people and she understands my fear and knows how to help me with it. She is willing to help me with any problems I have.
