"Kim, we don't want you to be late for your appointment," Karlie shouts. "Okay coming," I shout back. "What's my appointment for," I ask nervously. "Taylor's gonna check your mouth and clean your teeth and then there's the bit you won't like," Karlie says. "And what is that," I ask nervously. "She said you may need to get braces but the style of braces you'll get is the ones with four brackets in the back on both sides and you'll have two wires across the front teeth," Karlie says. "Okay," I say. "Kimberly, are you alright? you just went from nearly having an anxiety attack to super calm," Karlie says. "Yeah, it's just I think it'll be fine," I say. "Good girl, let's get going, we don't want to keep Taylor waiting any longer," Karlie says. We leave our house and walk to their office and when we arrive we walk straight to the back to see Taylor waiting. "Oh hi, guys, I thought you weren't coming," Taylor says. "Sorry about that," I say. "No worries Kim, just sit down and we'll get started," Taylor says as she gets her mask and gloves on. I nervously lay down on the chair and see Taylor hovering over me with her tools. "Okay Kim, open wide I'll be careful," Taylor says as she motions her tools towards me. I nervously open my mouth and Karlie comes by my side and grabs my hands. "Hey Kim, you alright," Karlie says encouragingly. I just nod my head and both Taylor and Karlie smile at me. "Okay Kim, nothing bad, I'm just going to clean your teeth now," Taylor says as she takes her tools out of my mouth. Taylor then grabs her polisher and starts polishing my teeth. "Good job Kim, that's the easy bit done," Taylor says. I just layed there shakily as I thought that I have to get braces now. "Kim, do you feel alright," Taylor asks me as she sees me shaking. "I'm just nervous about this part," I say nervously as I am on the verge of crying. "Hey Kim, don't cry and don't worry, how about this you can close your eyes while I'm putting braces on you," Taylor says. I just nod my head nervously. "Kim, look at me," Karlie says. I nervously look at Karlie with a distressed look. "Kim, can I have your hand," Karlie asks. I nod my head and Karlie smiles. "Just follow my breathing patterns," Karlie says as she places my hand on her heart. I breathe in deep breathes and then I start to calm down. I close my eyes and open my mouth. I hesitantly sit there while Taylor gives me braces. I kind of fell asleep during the procedure. I wake up in the middle of Taylor talking to Karlie. "Hey, Kim, how are you doing," Taylor asks as she sits next to me and pats my hair. I shrug my shoulders in response. "Good news, you're done, but I have some bad news," Taylor says. "What," I ask nervously. "Kim, you don't need to be nervous about this. It's just about what you eat," Karlie says. "One question, what can I not eat," I ask Taylor. "You are not allowed to eat chewy food, crunchy food, sticky food, hard food, sugary food and food you have to bite into like apples," Taylor says. "Another question, can I have soup," I ask. "Yes you can have soups as it's a really good meal for people with braces," Taylor says. I then scream in pain due to my mouth getting used to braces. "Are you alright Kim," Taylor says. "My mouth is just sore from the braces at the back," I say. "Okay it's fine, just feel around your mouth and tell me if the wire hurts you at all," Taylor says. "My mouth is just sore and the wire isn't poking into the sides of my mouth," I say. I look around the room to find Karlie has left. "Where's Karlie gone," I ask. "Oh, she went to wait in the waiting room," Taylor says. I get off the chair and leave the room followed by Taylor as we walk into the waiting room. "Hey Kim, how was that," Karlie says as she hugs me. "Not bad," I say. We leave their office and go back to the house. I go up to my room when we arrive at our house. I sit in my room for 10 minutes until Karlie comes into my room and sits next to me. "Hey Kim, dinner's ready," Karlie says. "I'm not that hungry," I say. "We're having soup," Karlie says. "Okay, I'll be down in 5 minutes," I say. Karlie leaves my room and I go to my bathroom to put on my rubber bands for my braces. I walk down the stairs and see Karlie and Taylor at the table. "Hey Kim, good to see you wearing your rubber bands," Taylor says. "Yeah, I forgot I have to start wearing them regularly," I say. We continue having our soup and enjoy the rest of the night.
