Jughead Jones didn't have a great life but it wasn't terrible. His parents didn't pay much attention to him but he never liked being the center of attention anyway. It was a normal day in April when Jughead's parents came into his room. "Jughead," his mother said. He looked up from his computer to see his parents standing in the doorway. "Oh, hey Mom, Dad. What's up?" They shared a glance and looked back a Jughead. "I'm pregnant. You're getting a little sister," his mother explained but neither of his parents were smiling. He thought it was strange but brushed it off nonetheless. He on the other hand was ecstatic. He couldn't wait to have a little sister to play with and love.
9 months later, Jellybean Jones was born. Just hours after she was born, Jughead was sitting in a chair holding his newborn sister. A single tear fell from his eye because of how adorable she was. He couldn't wait for her to be old enough for him to play with. His parents were almost silently talking on the other side of the room but he was too busy cuddling Jellybean to even listen to what they were saying. Then his dad walked over to him. "Alright. Give me the baby. We're going home. We'll pick up your mother and sister tomorrow," he said as he roughly grabbed Jellybean from his hands. He dropped her in the crib, grabbed Jughead's arm, and pulled him out of the room. They went home and FP sent Jughead to bed immediately. Jughead was very confused. You expect parents to be excited when they have a baby but FP seemed grumpier than ever.
As promised the next day they went to pick up Jellybean and Gladys. Jughead spent the whole day bonding with Jellybean. That night he went to bed with the biggest smile on this face. What he didn't know was it would be the last happy moment for a while.Jughead's POV:
I woke up and went to the kitchen expecting to see Mom cooking breakfast but she wasn't there. I checked every room in the house and neither her nor Dad were to be seen. As I checked my parents room, Jellybean started crying. I picked her up and rocked her to stop her screaming. I went out to the kitchen with her still in my arms to get her some milk. I opened the fridge, grabbed a bottle and poured the milk in. I quickly closed the cap and put the end of the bottle in her mouth.
After I finished feeding Jellybean, she had fallen asleep so I placed her back in her crib and went outside to look for my parents car. Gone. I went to my room and checked my phone for any messages. None. I got really suspicious so I went to my parents room and checked their dresser. All their clothes. Gone. They left. They abandoned me with my newborn sister. What am I gonna do? I'm basically a parent now. Great.Narrator POV:
1 year later, Jughead has completely grown up. He has a set routine that he memorized. He wakes up, gets himself and Jellybean ready, drops Jellybean off at daycare, goes to school, after school he gets tutored to help with his low grades, then he works for 4 hours to get money, then he picks Jellybean up, plays with her to bond and try to replace the parents who abandoned them, sets her up on the floor with some toys while he makes dinner for himself, eat dinner with Jellybean, give her a bath, get her ready for bed, read her a story, then she's usually asleep so he takes a shower, cleans up the house, does his homework, then finally goes to bed all to do it again the next day.Jughead POV:
I'm so exhausted today. Jellybean kept me up all night just crying but I didn't know how to stop it. I fell asleep during lunch period instead of eating. It gave me enough energy to power through the end of the day. After school, I headed to the Blue and Gold to be tutored by the one and only queen bee of Riverdale High, Betty Cooper. As I walked in I noticed her already there. She scoffed and said, "You're late. I don't have all day." She didn't even look up at me from her computer. I didn't say anything, I just walked fully in and sat across from her. I pulled my hood further over my face. Halfway through the lesson I got a phone call from the daycare. I picked it up. "Hello?" "Hello is this Jellybean's father?" I gulped. Betty glared at me, probably for interrupting her. "Yes, is there something wrong?" "We just can not get her to stop crying an-" I stood up and grabbed my bag. "I'm on my way." I hung up the phone and headed for the door. "Where are you going, our lesson isn't over and I don't feel like losing my extra credit because you weren't here so I couldn't tutor you." I rolled my eyes. Everything she does is for herself isn't it? "Somewhere. I'll see you tomorrow." I opened the door and practically ran to my car. I drove over and quickly pushed through the door. "Hey, Jughead. Here," one of the daycare workers handed me a screaming Jellybean almost as soon as I walked in the door. I softly bounced her in my arms and she almost immediately stopped crying, quickly falling asleep. "I'll keep her with me. It'll cause you guys less trouble." I left the building and put Jellybean in her car seat. I brought her to work with me so I could keep an eye on her. She slept through the whole day and night so I was able to get a lot done.
The next morning I woke up and did my normal routine when I was at work, I got a phone call from the daycare. This girl will be the death of me. I picked it up. "Hello?" "Hi, Jellybean is pretty sick and I need you to come get her so she doesn't infect the other kids." I sighed. "Yeah, yeah. I'm on my way." I grabbed my bag and headed over. I quickly rushed into the daycare center only to see... Betty Cooper holding Jellybean. I rushed over. "Is she okay? Does she have a fever? Has she coughed anything up?" I put my hand on her forehead and Betty smacked it away. "I don't know what the hell you're doing, but do not touch the child. We are waiting for her parents." I rolled my eyes. "Just give me the baby." I tried to grab her but Betty stepped back. "Stay away, freak! I don't know what kind of fetish you have to want this baby but st-" "Just give me my baby!" I quickly grabbed Jellybean. Betty stood there frozen in place. I put my hand on Jelly's forehead to feel she was burning up. "Oh baby..." I kissed her cheek. "Da... da..." Tears welled up in my eyes. She thinks I'm her father. Betty walked over and placed her hand on my shoulder. "She's your baby?" I quickly wiped my eyes and looked at her. "Uh, no she's my sister but I treat her as my own." "Why? Don't your parents take care of her." I scoffed and mumbled, "If they were here, sure." It took her a minute to process then her face dropped. "W-where are they?" A tear fell out of her eye. "If I knew, I wouldn't think of my sister as my daughter." She wiped her eyes. "I'm so sorry, I've been so mean to you when you were going through so much already." She walked over and hugged me. It was a strange feeling because I haven't been hugged in years. Even when my parents were here they didn't even like me so affection is unknown territory. I shyly hugged her back. "Well I have to go get medicine for her. I'll see you tomorrow." She nodded her head and I left. I grabbed my wallet out of my bag and looked inside. Empty. Great. I went to my work and begged my boss for my paycheck today and after a lot of arguing, he still refused. Jellybeans fever got worse. I only have one option now. I walked into the drugstore and over to the medicine section. I looked for children's medication. I found it. I don't know which one so I grabbed 3 and her favorite snack because when I'm sick, my favorite snack always makes me feel better. I looked around to check if anyone was watching and slipped them into Jellybean's car seat so it was hidden with her blanket. This store doesn't have any security so I think if I'm not too obvious and leave while someone is checking out I should be fine. I headed for the door only to have my arm yanked and be pulled into an isle. "What the hell?!" I looked over and it was Betty. "Really, Jughead?" "What?" I asked innocently. She reached into Jellybean's car seat and pulled out the all the stuff. "You're trying to shoplift?!" She whisper-shouted. I looked down at my feet. Betty walked away and I looked up. She was at the register buying both of our items. She walked back over to me and handed me a bag. "Do you know how to take care of a sick baby?" I shook my head. "Alrighty then. Let's go," she said as she took Jellybean from me. "What?" She looked up at me. "Oh, you're coming back to my house so I can help you. I don't want anything happening to Jellybean and if I show you, you know how to take care of her for next time." We walked out to her car and strapped Jellybean's car seat in the back. She drove us to her house and I unstrapped Jellybean's car seat. We went upstairs and Betty helped me give Jellybean her medicine. After that we went to her attic and found a small crib the we cleaned off for Jellybean to sleep in because Betty insisted we stayed the night. "Uh, you want me to sleep on the floor or..." She shook her head. "If you don't mind we can both sleep on my bed. It's a queen sized so we should both be able to have our own personal space." "Okay." I slipped off my shoes and and sat down next to her. She plugged in her phone and layed down facing away from me. I layed down facing the opposite way.
