Stampy's POV

Squid's arms are still around me when I wake up. I smile. He loves me! We'd fallen asleep right after we said it, but I'm sure of it. Even if we hadn't properly 'done it', I still feel slightly embarrassed. I hope I didn't hurt him more than he already is.

I pry myself away from him, careful not to wake him. I grab my shirt from where it is on the floor, where I discarded it last night, and shove it into my suitcase thing that I brought with me. I grab another one out of it and put it on, leaving the same jeans on. Nobody will know...

I go to the bathroom and do the stuff you do in there, before walking to the kitchen area across the room. Opening the cupboards, I see a box of half used milk powder and some bad quality tea. Breakfast, anyone?

I sigh and fill a sauce pan up with water, putting it on the stove to boil. This place doesn't even have a kettle! The sound of bubbling water fills the room, and too late I realise my mistake. The bed sheets rustle behind me as Squid sits up.

"Mornin' Stamps," he says in a Texas accent for no apparent reason. I laugh.

"Top o' the mornin' to ya."

"You sound like ChooChoo." Without much reason we just burst out laughing. It feels good to laugh, even with the threat of our 'parents' looming over our heads.

I finish making the tea, and bring both cups to the bed. Squid's fully dressed again, and gladly takes the cup from my hand. It seems colder today. I look out the window, to see gray storm clouds looming overhead. Darker gray than usual, I mean. More rain. Yay.

I sit down on the end of the bed next to Squid, crossing my legs. I grab my suitcase from where it is under the bed and grab my laptop out. I just stare at it, wondering. Should I make a video telling our subscribers how Squid and I are dating? What if they hate us? I sigh and put the laptop back down again.

"What are we going to do today? We have to be out of here by ten." I look at Squid, waiting for an answer.

"I don't know. Look for a cheaper place to stay, I guess."  I nod, looking out the window again. Is this what we're going to do now? Jump from place to place until Squid's dad gives up? Or will we have to leave completely?

We finish our tea in silence, not knowing what else to say. I jump up and chuck my cup in the sink, doing the same to Squid's.

"Let's go then." I look at Squid as he comes over and kisses me.

"Whatever happens, remember I love you."

     "I love you too."

*~.~*

Rains starts to spit down on us as we step out of the lobby and onto the road. Squid's hand finds mine and we begin to walk, walk down the cracked, cement footpath. I don't know where we're going to go, but anywhere has to be better than this place.

A rumble of thunder sounds overhead, and I shrink back in surprise. I hate thunder, or any loud noises. Squid notices my reaction and sets off at a jog, pulling me along with him. For some reason, it seems to help, as if I'm leaving my fears behind me when I run, but when I stop, they will catch up with me.

We run until we can't run any further. The rain pours harshly down now, thick drops blurring my vision as I search for a place of refuge. Still holding on to my hand, Squid pulls me sideways into a dark alley, filled with boxes and broken glass. The tall buildings on either side of us block out most of the sound. It's better than nothing.
