*Two days later*

Squid's POV

I wake up to the sound of soft snores to my right. I look over to see Stampy there, fast asleep on his chair again. He explained to me that he was staying with me, and wouldn't feel right alone in 'my house', so he decided to stay at the hospital. At least I get discharged today! I can finally go home and make videos to make up for the day or two I missed while I was in hospital.

I sit up, shaking Stampy not too softly to wake him up. He jolts awake.

"I was having a dream!"  He scowls at me.

"About what, eating cakes?"  He laughs and stretches.

"Anyway, I get to go home today. You still want to stay with me?"  Stampy nods.

"Yeah, but I'll have to go home to get my wallet. I feel bad you paying for everything."  I just nod. I don't remember him forgetting his wallet, or me paying for anything, but if he wants to, then I can't stop him.

"Ok. Anyway, let's go check out. I don't know if I can stand another breakfast of this food here."  He smiles again, but I can see his eyes are somewhere else.

I get up easily now, and start walking.

*~.~*

We walk out the hospital doors into freedom, at least for me. This feels like the first time I've been outside in months.

It's only a short walk to my house from the hospital, and I can manage it just fine. I got used to walking on crutches when I broke my leg when I was ten. Stampy walks beside me, slowing to my speed whenever I slow down. At one point I trip slightly, but he catches me. I'm glad I have a friend like him.

When we reach my house, I see Stampy reach into his pocket and pull out my house key. He must have retrieved it from my pocket in the hospital or something. I'm glad. I doubt I could even hold my arm up long enough.

Despite having the strength to walk on crutches, I'm still very weak. I managed walking just fine, but mainly because I have the crutches for support. Sure enough, as soon as I get in the door I collapse on the couch face first, earning a laugh from Stampy.

Literally one second after I righted myself, my phone rings. I pull it out of my pocket and glance at the screen before answering.

     "Hey, Tessa!"

"Hey David! I heard from someone that you were hurt, are you ok now?"  I smile. Tessa's a girl who I met in high school, and we've became good friends over the past few months.

"Sort of, I'm pretty beaten up and I lost memory of last month, but that's it."

"Poor you." I can hear her being sympathetic through the phone. "Do you want to meet up for coffee sometime?"

"Yeah! That'd be great! When suits you?"

"What about this afternoon?"  I nod, even though she can't see me. Stampy will be away by then, it'll be good to have some company.

     "Sure. See you then?"

"See ya!"  She hangs up the phone. It's not until I put the phone down that I realise that she may have been asking me out on a date. Did she like me in that way? Do I like her in that way?

"Who was that?" Stampy walks towards me and sits on the opposite end of the couch.

"Just Tessa, she wants to get coffee."  Stampy lifts his eyebrows at me. I glare at him.  "Not like that, we're just friends."

     "Sure."

Stampy's POV

I make it to my bedroom before Squid can see the sadness on my face. Maybe it's better this way, for him to get with a girl. His father wouldn't hurt him as much, if that was the case.

I quickly scout around my bedroom to see if I can find any more clothes or anything that I left behind. Nothing. I sigh and walk out the door, back into the lounge, placing a fake smile on my face. I've been doing that a lot lately.

"I'll be off, Squid, hopefully I'll be back by tonight."  He nods.

     "See you then."

I just walk out the door without looking back. I break into a jog, my suitcase rumbling along behind me. I'll have to just man up. It's my mother, for gods sake. She might not even be there. I hope she's not.

I arrive at the train station and get my tickets. Luckily, the train is there already. I jump on just as the door closes, and find a seat for myself. I wonder what Squid's doing right now? Maybe that Tessa girl will make him happy, and that's all that matters.

No matter what I tell myself, I can't help feeling a heated jealousy for her. If they do get together, I don't think I'll be able to bare it.

*~.~*

The train pulls up at the town where I spent all of my childhood living. It's almost familiar now, the train station. Even if I haven't been on many trains, I walked past this every time I went to school.

I take in the slightly warmer air of my home town before walking off the train. I can see my house from here, as it's just down the road. I pull my bag down behind me and jog out of the station and down the street, looking in dismay as I notice her car in the driveway. I'll have to face my mother, whether I like it or not.

Hope you enjoyed :) I'm sorry it took so long for me to update, and sorry it's so short and crap. The winner of the competition is misspolargirl! Thanks to the people who entered, I loved them all :D I've also started a collab with the same person, misspolargirl. It's called 'I'll Never Say Goodbye', and it's a Sqaishey/Stampy fanfiction.
