Squid's POV
I just stand there in shock as Tessa pulls away and simply walks back down the street, her braid flouncing as she walked. I shake my head to clear it and step inside my house, flicking the light on as I do so.
I sit down on the couch. Did Tessa really just kiss me? Sure, I like her as more than a friend, but... Something is telling me that it's wrong, that I like somebody else. Of course, that's just rubbish. I'm allowed to like Tessa, no matter what anyone says.
A loud knock on the door brings me to my senses. Stampy must be home already. I get up and walk to the door, unlocking it to let him in.
"How did the date go?" He asks me, already half walking to the kitchen to get a glass of water.
I hesitate for some reason before answering him. "Good. She... She kissed me."
Stampy doesn't answer. Instead he walks into the room he's staying in, closing the door behind him. What's the matter with him?
Stampy's POV
He kissed her. He kissed her. He kissed her!
I have to refrain from screaming as I sit on my bed. How could he kiss her?
I throw my glass of water on the floor, hearing a shatter. Good. I stand up in rage and push the small table next to my bed over, the lamp falling to the floor with it. What the hell is wrong with me?
It's not Squid's fault that he doesn't remember me. It's his father's fault, really. He's the one who injured him so badly that he forgot an entire month of his life. Sighing, I pick the table up off of the floor and stand it upright, placing the lamp on top of it again. Sharp pain shoots through my foot as I take a step back. I look down do see red blood mingling with the spilt water and glass. Should I?
I sit down on the bed again and pick up a large piece of glass lying at my feet. Raising it above my arm, I bring it down forcefully just once, not too hard, just enough to release some of the pain in side of me. I don't want Squid to notice.
Bright red splotches appear all over my arm, and I wipe them away angrily. I hope he doesn't notice. I hear a bleep from my phone, signalling a new message. I pull it out of my pocket and stare in dismay at the screen.
I know you came back today. I told you not to set foot in that house ever again. You had your warning. I'm telling you, I will find you and I will kill you.
She knows I came back. How? Maybe she noticed my wallet missing. If there's one thing I know about my mother, it's that she is capable of going through with threats. She will find me. I know she will.
I throw my phone on the ground in sudden anger. It, too, shatters, leaving even more glass on the ground. I needed a new phone anyway.
Sighing again, I squat down and pick up the broken pieces of glass, not caring if it cuts me. Squid can notice all he wants. I don't care anymore.
Squid's POV
Stampy comes out of his room some half-hour later. Quickly depositing something in the bin on his way, he comes and sits down next to me.
"Sorry I went off like that. I'm just tired, I suppose. So... you said she kissed you?"
"Yeah, she just said she enjoyed herself and then kissed me. She walked off straight afterwards, like nothing had happened." He nods at me.
"You... you don't remember anything from that month, right?"
"Not a thing. Although, there is something at the back of my mind. I don't know if that's anything, though." He nods at me, looking slightly dissappointed. "Did something happen that I should know about?"
"No, nothing like that. Anyway, you want to watch a movie or something?"
"What about a TV series? I bought Game of Thrones a while ago, and it's supposed to be really good," I suggest.
"Sure."
Stampy's POV
I try not to think about Squid and Tessa when I go to sleep, but my dreams are full of them. They're more like nightmares really. I wake to sun shining through my room's window.
I hear laughs coming from the living room. Maybe Tessa's here already.
I just lay in bed, staring at the ceiling for what seems like an eternity. I really don't want to meet Tessa right now, I need some time to get used to it. Maybe I could go and see Netty! Yes, that's exactly what I'll do. It'll take my mind off things, at least.
I somehow manage to drag myself out of bed and pull on some black skinny jeans with a Stampy Cat tee-shirt, as well as some red converses. At least I look half decent.
I go to pull my phone out of my pocket when I remember I smashed it last night. Great. I'll just have to turn up at the hospital and see if she's there. I'll have to walk there, too.
Bracing myself, I walk out of my room and down the stairs. In the lounge, I see Squid and a pretty looking girl sitting together on the couch, with their arms around each other. I take a deep breath and walk forward.
"Hey Squid, I'm just going to see Netty.'
"Ok", he says. "This is Tessa, by the way." Tessa smiles at me. I do my best to smile back. She seems nice. It's better that Squid had a nice girlfriend than a bitch who hates everything and everyone.
"Hi! I'm Joe, or Stampy."
"Nice to meet you. Tessa, obviously." I smile again, before walking out the door. I just need some time to get used to the fact that Squid doesn't love me anymore. If I ever get used to it.
I jog all the way to the hospital, feeling as if I'm leaving all my troubles behind with the wind, even though I know deep down that I have to face Squid soon. I arrive at the hospital throughly out of breath.
Luckily, I see Netty walking across the car park towards what must be her car. I run after her to catch up.
"Hey! Netty!" She turns at my voice, her face breaking into a smile when she sees me.
"Hey Joe! What's... Happening?" I know she's referring to Squid.
"Squid... He's got a girlfriend." I look down at the ground, blinking back tears.
"Stampy..." It's the first time she's called me that. I look up at her.
"There's really no chance that I could tell him?" She shakes her head.
"I'm sorry. Not now. Especially since he's got a girlfriend. If you told him, who knows what he would do? It would be better for you to stay friends with him than have him hate you."
I nod, but inside I don't agree. Would that really be best?
