prelude to a 'wonderful' meeting

After the 'workout' session, Kane carried the sleeping beauty after dressing her. Then as steady as he could, he walked towards the rear part of the castle.

Dean and Dane were already prepared and on-standby when he arrived to the area behind the castle. Their luggage was also already piled up at one area. All that's left were the other three people- Jay Atlas, Desmonda Selge, and Khalua Lancaster.

He scanned the courtyard behind the castle. It was quite dim as dawn was still starting to break but the sight of the large fountain that majestically stood in the middle with benches surrounding it from afar could not go unnoticed. There were even a plentiful of rose bushes planted around the rear courtyard, giving it a romantic feel.

A maze was also built just farther behind the castle after the courtyard. Sarah suggested to make the maze after he turned her. She told him that its purpose was to be an escape route by the pregnant women and children if ever the Leguila was under attack.

Leguila housed thousands of vampires and hundreds of pregnant women and children. By providing a means of survival for them, even if many vampires died like in the Great War, the specie was sure to never die out.

Kane smiled, thinking how amazing Sarah was. At that time she was new to being a Queen yet she immediately assumed her role as if she was born for it.

Just as the Werewolves were in close ties with the Witches, so are the Vampires with the Fairies. Fairies were a very peaceful bunch that's why they only helped the vampires in secret. One of the secret help that the fairies provided was the maze.

The maze itself was a living entity because of a few magical tweaks by the fairies. Only Vampires know where the other end of the maze is while intruders will be fodder for the maze. The other end of the maze led to a portal that transports those who enter to a remote area of Alfyien, the Fairy Kingdom. It was the designated spot that both kingdoms agreed upon to house the vampires in case they met a misfortunate situation.

Leguila, Alfyien, Khrommo, the werewolf kingdom, and other supernatural kingdoms existed in dimensional planes not on earth. To get inside these kingdoms, any being must pass through the portals that were set up millennia ago by their predecessors. Furthermore portals had fixed exit points, meaning a being cannot enter portal entrance A that lead to exit A, and expect to end up in exit B.

"Can you handle teleporting 7 people?" Kane asked Dean bluntly. From what he know, five people was currently Dean's maximum limit with 2 days of bed rest.

"Yes, Your Majesty. However, I will be... incapacitated for at most a week." He said while standing as stiff as a board.

Kane thought beforehand to use Khalua's help and travel through a gateway with runes but setting that up will take a day or so. So, Kane decided on Dean's teleportation since it was faster to get to the werewolf council.

The gateways created by runes are different from portals in that gateways are one-time use after its creation but it can take you anywhere as long as the right coordinates are set.

Khalua Lancaster, a noble, has the rank of a Countess and is a member of the oldest Vampire clan, the Lancasters. Khalua's existence was very odd as she is a half-witch, making her one of the only five vampire hybrids in the kingdom.

Although she is a noble, she is treated as an outcast because of her foreign blood. Her father was a witch that specialized in ancient runes. That was where she got her rune talents from. It was a shame to lose him even though he had already chosen to side with the Vampires.

Kane sighed, knowing they had little choices. There were no other Vampires who had the power of teleportation that's why to him Dean was very indispensable.
