After their first night, he kept his promise. He made Lilac become the assistant of another doctor and her, his assistant.

She was pained at first when he completely ignored her when they met at work the next day. But she reminded herself that he was only like this because his wife was in the same office. She recalled his words of wanting to protect her from his wife and she felt happy.

So, sometimes, when she passed by the red-haired woman who she once thought of as beautiful, she would sneer. Oh, how she wished she could just tell that damn wife what she and her husband had been doing behind her so she could just scram and let them be a happy couple.

But she couldn't when Grange reminded her on their second night not to provoke his wife. He even placated her when he said that he was planning for their divorce the moment he saw her.

Right now, it had been one week. Maine stacked the papers Grange gave her. To her, the name Grange could only be mentioned at night so she was very careful not to accidentally blurt out the name.

She placed the papers in one folder and marked it with a patient's name.

His wife was as always lounging around in the private room at the back of the office. Maine heard her call him and she unconsciously clenched her hands.

Through the gap of the door, she saw the wife acting spoiled and asking for something Maine couldn't quite hear. And Grange tenderly patted her head before grabbing the biscuit on the plate and gently placed the biscuit in his wife's mouth.

Tonight, she decided would fuck him until he forgot he was even married.

She felt bitter but she knew he was married so she could only wait until the man would be officially hers. Until then, she had to endure.

She smiled brightly, knocking on the door and disrupting the pink atmosphere around them. "Doctor, I finished filing the documents. Do you still have some other instructions?"

She asked, a subtle pleading in her voice. She wanted him to know her implied words. For him to leave his wife and even if it was only an act, to be by her side even during the day.

Kane frowned and said dismissively. "No. Leave the office. I will call you when I need you."

Maine felt her eyes prick with tears but she stopped herself from tearing. Tonight, she was sure. She would remind him that the only woman for him was her. She packed up and left the office.

Kane continued frowning. Meanwhile, Sarah laughed. "Love, why are you frowning? Can't handle a little admirer?"

He snorted. "Hmph! As if I would want her. So annoying like a fly."

"Get Lilah to come back then."

"Can't. One of the doctors really need her to assist him."

"Too bad..."

He gathered the sitting woman into his arms, sat on her original place, and dropped her onto his lap. He hugged her from behind while he inhaled her scent. "It's been so long since I've had you..."

He felt desperate for his wife. It had been a week since he'd touched her and now he felt his body strongly responding to her.

Sarah snickered and rolled her eyes at him. "Then stop going out at night." She told him bluntly.

"But..." Kane pouted. "This time, it's really important. Everything will be settled by next week. I'll tell you everything by then."

Sarah raised her eyebrow. "Normally, when women's husband go out at night consecutively, there's a high probability that their cheating on their wife."
