Emily's p.o.v.
I walk through the school halls avoiding my brother and his friends as I walk towards my locker.Last night, I just ended up sleeping on a park bench. There was no way I was going back to my house.
I walk down the hall to the way to the library. I walk in and notice Cyrus sat there with Clay, Tony and Tyler. Tony looks behind him, obviously looking to see who had just entered the library. Clay, Tyler and Cyrus also look.
Clay gives me a small smile and I return the gesture.
I notice Cyrus get up, so I immediately make an exit for the library doors."Emily. Wait." I hear Cyrus say, quickly running up besides me.
I just try to ignore him and make a quick left, round the corner and down another hall.
"Em. Just wait. Listen to me." He says grabbing hold of my wrist and spinning me around to face him.
"Cyrus. Just leave me alone." I tell him.If Monty catches us both together, he'll tell dad. And I don't want to know what he'll do to me.
"No. Emily I'm sick of us both not talking."
"Please Cyrus. Not here." I say, my eyes filling with tears.
"Em. Just talk to me. I just want to help." He tells me. "I just want to understand why you just blocked me out all of a sudden. Blocked us all out."I start to hear the jocks coming round the corner laughing about some crude joke that the other one told and I sigh.
"Well maybe I don't want your help Cyrus!" I exclaim as Monty comes round the corner.
I see a smirk pluck at the corner of my brothers mouth.
He carries on walking down the corridor and once he's out of sight;"Meet me at Eisenhower park. Tonight at 8pm." I tell him.
"But-" I cut him of.
"Cy. I can't talk to you here. Not with Monty here." I tell him.He nods.
"Sorry but I've got to go. Meet tonight at eight." I tell him again walking of down the corridor.
----
"Montgomery! The police want you at the station again! Now! For some more questioning!" My dad shouts up to Monty as I quietly do some of my homework in my room.
"What about?" Monty asks him walking down the stairs cautiously.
"That boy. Bryce Walker." He tells him.
"Oh." Montgomery sighs.
"Well hurry up! I'll take you down there."I hear Monty running back up the stairs.
Just before he heads back down again to my dad he pokes his head round my door frame."What was that about earlier?", He asks me.
"What do you mean?" I ask him pretending like I don't know what he was on about."Montgomery hurry your arse up now!" Our dad shouts again.
"With that emo kid."
"One he's not emo." I tell him pointing out my fingers as if I'm going to give him a list of things.
"If he hurts you-" I cut him of.
"Monty. He's not going to hurt me. The only person that's going to hurt me is dad if he finds out that I'm going to go meet him in like half an hour at Eisenhower park. So please please please can you spend a little more time down at the cop station than necessary?" I beg him.
"Em." He sighs.
"Please. My one and only bestest brother in the whole wide world!" I give him puppy dog eyes.
He sighs. "And what do I get out of this?" He questions me.
I stop and think for a minute. "Well... If my plan comes together and actually works, you can go to that party that you kept telling me you wanted to go to but couldn't because dad said you had to stay home with me." I try to persuade him.
"So where are you gunna stay then?" He asks me.
"Erm... I could ask a friend if I could stay at hers." I tell him.
"Sure. But if I found out you tell dad about me going to the party, you're dead. As well as your little gang of emos." He points his finger at me.
"They aren't emos. And I've got nothing to loose. Go ahead and tell dad. I'll leave this shit hole as fast as you got with your boyfriend on homecoming night. You fag." I snarl at him.
"Wha- how..." He struggles to get his words out.
"I have my ways." I smirk."Montgomery!" Dad shouts up the stairs again.
He clenches his jaw looking me up and down before huffing and storming down the stairs like he used to do when he was five and I had stolen one of his favourite toys. Before all of this shit started with our dad. When we used to be a happy family.
I looked at my phone.
7:50pm
It read on the screen.
I quickly put my shoes on and ran downstairs checking that my dad and brother was gone. The car wasn't there, meaning they aren't either.I quickly shoot Cyrus a text.
Me: Hey. It's Emily.
Cyrus: Hey. We still meeting at Eisenhower park?
Me: Yeah. I'm just heading up there now.
Cyrus: Okay. I'll see you there in five.
Me: Yeah. See you then.I put my phone into the pocket of my- Cyrus' leather jacket and head up to the park. It's only two minutes away from our house so it's not that bad of a walk.
And yes. I said Cyrus' leather jacket. He let me borrow it homecoming night as it started getting really cold sat up on the bleachers.
I never got to give it back to him either. Seen as I was way to afraid of seeing him incase my dad found out.I get to the park at five to eight.
I sit on a swing waiting for Cyrus to get here.*Flashback*
I feel a shiver go down my spine as a giant gust of wind passes by."Here. Take this." Cyrus says, slipping of his leather jacket and handing it to me.
"No Cy that's not fair. You'll get cold. Just keep it." I tell him.He puts the back of his hand on my upper arm and shakes his head.
"No Em you're freezing. I'll be fine. Take it." He says.
He helps me put it on and we continue to watch the game.
I've never had this feeling around anyone before. A warm, fuzzy feeling. It felt weird... But nice at the same time. I liked it.
"Hey." I hear a familiar voice from besides me, taking me out of my thoughts.
It was Cyrus.
He took a seat on the swing next to me."Oh hey." I said with a little smile.
