See You Soon

A few days later as Ruby's visit was coming to an end we met up with my parents for brunch before her flight. They really liked Ruby and had practically welcomed her to the family already. I could not have been happier.

"So when will we be seeing you again Ruby?" My mum asks

"Actually... we have some news for you" I said as I look at both my parents a little nervously.

"Well... we know it's not gonna be 'Mum, Dad... I'm pregnant'" Dad teases and I hear Ruby chuckle beside me. If there was one thing I could always count on with my dad it was his sense of humour. "What is it Sunshine?"

"I'm going to move to LA so Ruby and I can be together properly" I smile as I hold my girls hand tight in mine.

"Awww Maya... my sweet Baby" my Mum gushes. "That is wonderful news!"

"I'm proud of you Sunshine".

"You guys aren't upset?"

"Of course not Maya. We will miss you a lot. But even a blind man could see that you two belong together" My Mum grins.

"We are happy for you both" my Dad adds.

"Thanks guys. You really are the best. We'll come and visit of course, and I will face time you every week".

"We'll look forward to it" Dad grins.

"When do you go?" Mum asks.

"Not for about a month yet. I've handed in my resignation at work. So I just have to work out the next three weeks and pack up my things and then I'll be flying to my girl" I grin.

"Well if you need to store anything, I got plenty of room in the garage Sunshine".

"Thanks Dad. That would be great".

Once we had finished up brunch my parents said their goodbyes to Ruby and I took her to the airport. After checking in for her flight and dropping off her luggage we had an hour to kill before she needed to board so we made our way to the lounge area and found a sofa in a quiet corner.

"I'm gonna be counting down the days until I can see you again" Ruby smiles.

"Me too Babe. I'm gonna miss you like fucking crazy" I whisper as I tenderly stroke her cheek before leaning in and pressing a kiss to her lips

"I can't believe you are moving halfway across the world to be with me".

"Why wouldn't I? I love you. You are my girl" I grin.

"Yeah I am" Ruby smiles as she kisses me deeply.

We cuddle on the sofa together as we talk about our future, and I have never been more happy in my life. When the loud speaker announces the boarding of her flight I can't help but feel sad. I will see her again before I know it, but saying goodbye is still so hard.

"Hey..." Ruby whispers as we arrive at the gate. "We'll be back together soon Baby. I promise" she smiles as she cups my face. I can't stop the tears that well up in my eyes. "Don't cry Beautiful... you'll make me cry".

"Sorry Babe. I'm just gonna really miss you".

"I know Maya. I'll miss you too, and I'll be counting down the minutes until I can have you back in my arms. Stay strong okay. I love you Baby".

"I love you too Roobs" I smile, putting on a brave face. She presses her lips to mine one last time, pouring every ounce of love she has for me into it.

"Safe travels Baby" I smile as her hand slowly slips from mine as she walks through the gate.

"I'll call you when I land Beautiful" she replies before she begins to walk down the corridor. She turns back to look at me and holds her hands up in a heart shape before she disappears from view. God I love that woman with all that I have.

The next month seems to fly by as I pack up my house and store anything I want to keep in Dads garage. I sell all my furniture because in all honesty I have no intention of returning any time soon. Ruby is it for me. She is the one. I love her with all my heart, and I am confident that she is my forever. We have talked every day since she got back to LA, and that has made the distance a little easier.

My boss at Weta Workshop is sad to see me go, but he has been very supportive of my decision and has written me a glowing recommendation for any future job interviews. As my final day at work rolls around my colleagues throw me a leaving party and it is just the sweetest thing. I loved my time there, and I have made some friends for life.

My nerves are running high and excitement electrifies my entire body as I pack my final bags to leave for LA. I've been staying the past few days at my parents after moving out of my rental house and this morning they are taking me to the airport. I pack pretty light considering I am moving so far. Only taking my clothes, shoes, necessities and my most prized possessions. Anything else I need I can just buy when I get there.

When it's time to leave I find my excitement far outweighs any nerves I feel and all I can think about is being back with Ruby. The feel of her lips on mine. The smell that is uniquely her surrounding me, enveloping me. I can't wait to be home. Home in the arms of the woman I love.

I check in for my flight and drop off my multiple bags at the counter. I can't believe this is happening. I'm moving to LA! To be with fucking Ruby Rose! My literal dream woman!

"You look after yourself Sweetie" my Mum says as she gives me a big hug. "Make sure you let us know when you land safely".

"I will Mum. Don't worry".

"I'm so proud of you Sunshine. You go get your girl! Live your life and be happy" my Dad beams as he wraps me up in a big hug.

"Thanks Dad. I love you guys. You are the best parents a gay girl could ever have wished for. I'll check in every week okay".

"Okay Maya. Safe travels Sweetheart".

"Bye" I smile as they head off back to the car. I make my way to the lounge area and eagerly await my flight. The minutes seem to drag my painstakingly slow and I just wish that time would hurry up.

My phone begins to ring and Ruby's beautiful picture flashes on my screen and my face breaks into the biggest smile.

"Hey Babe" I answer.

"Hey Beautiful. I caught you in time. Are you at the airport?"

"I am, just waiting for them to call for boarding".

"I can't wait to see you Maya. I'll be waiting at the other end for you Baby" Ruby says.

"I'm so excited. I hope you're prepared for the biggest cuddle of your life".

"Oh definitely".

Just then the speaker chimes and they finally call my flight for boarding.

"Alright Babe. My flight is boarding now. I gotta go. I love you! I'll see you real soon".

"I love you too Baby. See you soon" Ruby replies.

They are nearly together! Yay!
