Maya's POV
Six months down the track and here we are about to tie the knot. I can't even begin to explain the insane level of butterflies that are fluttering around like mad in my stomach at this very moment.
Ruby and I had both agreed that we just wanted a small wedding. Family and very close friends only. My mother had picked out the perfect venue for us and had been helping organise everything since we were halfway across the world.
Last night we had done a run through of the ceremony and literally everything was perfect. I cannot believe that this is my life. It all feels like a dream!
Ruby's POV.
It's almost time to go out and wait for Maya and I feel more nervous than I ever have in my life. But I'm not scared. Not one little bit. She is the love of my life and I have been waiting for this day since the moment I fell in love with her.
"Awww Ruby. You look beautiful Sweetheart" My Mum says as she comes in to get me. I opted to wear a suit to our wedding, and I'm more than pleased with my decision and I'm sure my fiance... soon to be wife will be too.
"Thanks Mum".
"You ready?"
"One hundred percent" I smile as she takes my hand and we walk out to the alter to wait for my bride.
Maya's POV
As I look at myself in the mirror all the self concious thoughts that once used to flood my mind are nothing but a distant memory. Being with Ruby has not only taught me what true love is, but she has also taught me to love myself. That is a place that I never imagined I would get to. My dress is a simple yet beautiful white lace sundress, topped off with a pair of all white Chuck Taylor hightops.
"You look stunning. Are you ready Sunshine?" My Dad asks as I see him approach from behind me in the mirror."Absolutely" I grin in response. "I've never been more ready for anything in my entire life".
"Lets do this then... your future wife awaits" he smiles proudly as he holds out his arm for me. Linking my arm in his we make our way towards the door and down the path to where the ceremony is being held.
Winding down the pathway through the beautiful rose gardens we come to an opening and the beginning of the aisle. A soft song plays in the background as I walk towards the love of my life. Fuck me... she is absolutely breathtaking in her blue suit. How the hell did I get so lucky?
As we reach the alter my Dad places a sweet kiss to my cheek, and then one to Ruby's as well before taking a seat next to my Mum and my Nana.
"Wow... you look beautiful Baby" Ruby smiles as she stares at me in awe.
"You look pretty damn fantastic yourself Babe".
The celebrant begins with a few simple words and a poem of our choosing, written by my dear Nana.
"Love is not restricted,
Love knows no walls or chains,
Our heart will choose for us,
With no input from our brains,Love is not in the mind,
It is deep within the heart,
You will know your soulmate,
From the very start,Love knows no race, no gender,
Love is always kind,
Only in the depths of your soul,
There, Love you will find".The celebrant finished and followed up by asking Ruby and I to exchange our vows and our rings. "Maya... would you like to start" she spoke and I nodded in reply.
"Ruby... if someone had told me years ago that I would get the chance to meet you, I would have laughed. If they told me that I would marry you, I would have told them they were insane and taken them to the nearest psych unit. But here we are" I smile. "The day we met was one of the greatest of my life, and I knew the moment I started to fall for you, that you were the one for me. You are the kindest, smartest, funniest and most beautiful woman on the planet. And I am honoured to be able to call you my wife. I give you this ring, as a symbol of my ever lasting love" I say as I slip it onto her slender finger.
"Ruby, you may now say your part" the celebrant said.
"Maya... Baby, I still remember the day we met like it was just yesterday. How adorable and nervous you were. So much that you almost fell flat on your face" she chuckled and the crowd giggled too. "Catching you that day was a no brainer, and holding onto you was the best thing I have ever done. I'm so proud to call you mine. My wife, my heart, my everything. I give you this ring as a symbol of my ever lasting love" She says as she slips the ring onto my finger.
"I now pronounce you... Wife and Wife" the Celebrant smiles. "You may kiss your bride" she adds and the whole crowd claps and cheers as Ruby pulls me closer and presses her lips to mine.
Today... this moment, is the start of the rest of our lives. And I cannot wait to see what our future holds.
